Best London Team Ever

Now her's a challenge, even for Norbold with the propensity of London teams since 1928.

Think of the World Champions that have graced London sides.

Think of the great riders who rode for West Ham, Wimbledon, New Cross and Harringay.

I doubt any 2 members will agree on the top 7, so I'll start this off with;

Wilkinson

Young

Knutsson

Briggs

Moore

Johnson

Waterman

Over to you...

Cripes, chr, that's a toughie....

Arthur

Huxley

Farndon

Wilkinson

Parker, J

Milne, J

Milne, C

Blimey, that's seven and I've only just reached the War!

Moving on....

Price

Duggan

Young

Waterman

Moore

Briggs

Knutson

(And that's not counting the 17 year old Mauger's stint at Wimbledon or Ove Fundin's at Wembley)

Hang on a minute...what about Fred Williams, Crutcher, Simmons, McKinlay, Nygren, Banger....oh dear, oh dear....

You mean you left out World Champions Williams, and Van Praag, and World No 2's Jansson, Kennett, Green, Lamoreaux, Plech, Wigg, Jessup, and Harrfeldt? No place for Croombs, Nordin, Biggs, Case, Lofqvist, Wiltshire, Tauser, Mardon, Lawson, Haigh, Kennett, Charles, How, Tommy,.. ?

I really don't know how you came up with your list, norbold... :P

I said no 2 people would agree. What this does show though is what a hotbed of speedway London used to be, and how sad it is not to have our sport in the capital.

Can remember the old London Riders Championship at Ackney 60-80s, won by the likes of Pratty, Broady, Hedgey, Rossy, Thomas, Petersen, Thomsen, Harrfeldt, Hunter, Moore, Jansson., Jessup, Kennett.....

Better than the GP lineups today...
