Record Breakers

Recommended Posts

Peter Karlsson is just three meetings behind the club record appearances of Sam Ermolenko of 542 official meetings meaning he would equal the record on Good Friday at Belle Vue and break the record on April 7th in the return leg at Monmore Green. He is also just 100 rides behind Sudden Sam.

So I was wondering who holds the following records at this years Elite League tracks.

Sam Ermolenko may lose the most official matches and most rides to Peter Karlsson at Wolverhampton in 2015 but PK is still 306+114 (420) behind Sudden Sam in points which could only be beaten if he rides after 2015. It is virtually impossible to break Olsen;s record average.

I don't know if these are actually records, but they are mighty impressive..

(All figures taken from Kings Lynn's official records: I've just looked up Bettsy figures, although they're other riders that did well, to me it will be Bettsy who holds most. )

Terry Betts rode for Lynn Stars from 1966 till 1978 (13 Years)

MOST OFFICIAL MATCHES: Terry Betts : 471

MOST OFFICIAL RIDES: Terry Betts: 2103

MOST RACE POINTS SCORED: Terry Betts: 4884

MOST BONUS POINTS SCORED: Terry Betts: 133

MOST TOTAL POINTS SCORED: Terry Betts 5017

MOST MAXIMUMS Terry Betts : 57 F and 14 P, ( Feel this might to bettered though)

Agreed, that is some work Cheekyboys2

The track record for Lynn is certainly wrong though, It's certainly Nicki P. as posted by GB earlier in thread.

Also according to the records I'm putting together for a little project I'm working on, Terry Betts averaged 10.51 in 1972 from 32 meetings (7 full max's, 2 paid). I'm also pretty certain Michael Lee averaged higher in about 1978 but not got the figures to hand at the moment so can't check that.

Edit - Just noticed Leicester's track record is also wrong as I was there when Niels-Kristian Iversen smashed the previous best. It's was 59.06 on 07/06/2014 unless of course someone has broken it since then.

Super rider, I always looked forward to watching Terry when the Stars were in Manchester. Of course those were the days when a rider rode for the club because he loved that club.

These are the records I have...include all official matches i.e League, League Cup, KOC, Spring Gold Cup (1970's), Craven Shield, Elite Shield / Premiership.

A most impressive list Three Pirates. It is no surprise seeing The Aces topping nearly every category.

Now those are impressive figures!

I make reference to your Wolves/Newport quote. In fact this is shared also by The Aces in a league match in the summer of 1984 at Hyde Road vs Eastbourne 64-14.Colin Richardson was the only Eastie rider to beat an Ace that day.

Must admit I only added for the sake of Pinstripe, alleged Newport fan. Thanks for the info on the Aces match. I used to dread going to Hyde Road as our record there was terrible. I think we won only once, and I wasn't there to see it as the Mrs was expecting. Women heh ? :D

Some impressive work there, PPP. You (or anyone) don't happen to have details for Halifax and Wimbledon's track records, do you, please?

Wimbledon 58.20

Halifax 63.00

Wimbledon 58.20

Halifax 63.00

Ignore the above as I got it wrong...sorry.

Wow impressive list of stats. :t:

I can fill in a blank for you. The Dudley Wood track record was held by Hans Nielsen (Oxford), set on 18th July 1990. 60.7 seconds. It was rarely even threatened let alone there ever being a spell when it seemed likely to be beaten. Full credit to the excellent (unofficial) Cradley Speedway website.

credit http://cradleyspeedway.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/trackrecords.htm

And if you bare with us a couple of days a new NL track record will be established on Perry Barr on Wednesday night. Not sure how this will work though. Will there be a NL track record for the track regardless of it being set during a B'ham or Cradley meeting or will there be a separate one for each club? I assume the former but I don't know for sure.

*edit* NL track record for Perry Barr set by Max Clegg in heat 1 18.03.15 - 61.00 seconds
