Where Are The National League Fixtures?

A well reasoned post from Jane as usual, and she does have knowledge of the situation....But the competing teams have been known for a long time so i dont see why it should take so long ..It seems to me that no consideration to the fans and their planning ,is taken into account...

Could be of course that the NL hold their AGM in January and have done for years. Nowt new there. The fixture lists of the EL and the PL are produced separately by different people, and I gather neither is a matched set yet, so you can expect some changes in the meanwhile. As Jane shows, the NL is always behind the EL/PL in terms of fixtures, so there is no rush till the joint fixtures are settled. What do some want. Rushed out fixtures, which are not worth the paper are written on, and unwanted bookings of accommodation and travel.

It was December 9th

My mistake I thought i read it was planned for January, when it has always been held. If it wasn't the AGM was there a meeting in January. I understood there was a meeting around about the 13th January.

I read somewhere that teams like Stoke get by with only about 200 supporters. To them an additional 20 traveling fans in a mini-bus and a car, would mean a 10% increase in income. Stoke's home support could be dwarfed by Birmingham and Cradley fans, and it's well known that for the past 3 years, Buxton dine-out on the income from the visit by Cradley...but how many of these fans can yet book their time off work, and how many supporters clubs can yet book minibuses or coaches???

Of course if you make it impossible for the fans to plan ahead by witholding the dates of the meetings then don't be surprised if the visiting fans don't turn up (as I won't be) Everyone talks about the sport being in a dire financial crisis, and yet the BSPA is doing it's best here to deny the 3rd division teams just the income that they so desperately need. CRAZY!

What a ridiculous statement to make! Are you seriously saying that if Cradley had have moved up this year, like they wanted to, that Buxton would have gone bust? How many years were Buxton running before Dudley even appeared?? They just work with stricter constraints, sometimes that means poorer septets but, like this year by the looks of things, sometimes the continuity provides good looking teams! And another thing that you'll soon come to realise is that the NL is effectively regarded as completely separate to the EL and PL, so where you go blaming the BSPA for late fixtures it's essentially nothing to do with them and all down to Mr Morrish to co-ordinate.

Nothing that I'm aware of on Jan 13th and the AGM was held in Decemberin 2013 as well as last year!

That's simply not true.

There's no 'withholding' of fixture dates at all - as Jayne has explained, they have to be compiled after the EL & PL ones.

In any case, they'll be available probably two months or so before the start of the season - how much notice do people need ?

How many nl clubs run on weekends now

Half (Coventry run Fridays).

It's less than 2 months already. Birmingham & Cradley's seasons start on 18th March. Thankfully, their first 2 fixtures are know about, mainly because the BSPA were NOT involved in arranging them.

As for how much notice do people need... Everyone's different. I guess pensioners (the bulk of some team's fan bases) have unlimited flexibility, but if you remember back to when you were at work and when leave is allocated on a first come first served basis, you'd have wanted as much notice as possible so that you can book off those dates you want off, before someone else books them ahead of you.

Likewise, if you are booking minibuses or coaches, the further in advance you put your bookings in, the better the deal (and the lower the cost to the fans) you can arrange.

I did see a Stoke supporters bus at Mildenhall in 2011, it was late arriving if I remember rightly, not noticed one since.

That was probably because they set out as soon as they were told of the fixture and simply didn't have the time to complete the journey. No wonder no-one wants to go to away matches any more. Innit? ;)

Kent is obviously a pain for away fans being so early on a Monday evening but the only two clubs that have brought big numbers to us are mildo and cradley.

Think Kent travel pretty well, I got to most nl tracks last year except buxton and Lynn.

Do kent normally run a bus for away supporters to go to the likes of Eastbourne ,mildenhall etc ? or is it left to the individuals to make there own way there
