What The Visa Issues Could Mean For Teams.

So there isn't an issue.

Thankyou for admitting that and rendering your whole point null and void.

Bollocks

"Legally" is the key word you used there.

Legal but you miss the point once again, the applicants are nowhere near 'world class' performers, and in the words of HA, 'capable of putting bums on seats'.

You are still banging on about the number of work permit players in the lower leagues. I've asked you to name some, you've not managed to name one as yet... I wonder why that is?

And nor will I. The FL realise it, HA has said it and upto date footie fans all know it. If you don't TOUGH.

You can't name any because there aren't any.

It doesn't matter how much you swear, stamp your feet or make things up Tsunami the facts are there are ZERO work permit players in League 2 and very few, if ANY in League 1.

The closest that there can be found is a New Zealander who qualifies to play due to his ancestory.

Here's something for everyone to think about. Lets say we get to the beginning of March (not that long away) and it is announced that none of the affected riders

will be getting their visas until at least the end of April or maybe Mid May, the teams are going to have to employ Brits/EU riders to fill the gaps as they wont be able to delay the season that long. Question will the Work Permit riders actually get their visas if they will then replace Brits/EU riders who have filled the vacant spots ?

The decent ones, those that are actually deserving of a visa, probably wouldn't be able to be replaced at least not without excessive costs...There just aren't the riders available and interested in racing over here. If there was a large delay I would expect facilities (guest/rider replacement) to be granted to teams due to the exceptional circumstances and that would actually help to prove that these riders were genuinely required in the leagues.

As you are implying, anyone who can easily be replaced by a rider who doesn't require a work permit probably shouldn't be eligible for a work permit in the first place, and there are probably a few on the list of riders currently signed that might fit that category.

Its not about riders, teams or countries, this is about riders meeting the criteria laid down by the UKVI. For example certain other visa criteria have to meet a minimum income level of 18.600, so imo if they have to meet there criteria there is NO reason Speedway should be any different. I will say here and now if i can see ANY Speedway Team flouting the regs, of minimum average, they will be reported to the UKVI, By all means if you want a 5 point rider to be in your Team on a 7 point average go ahead, but usually Team managers prefer 7 point riders on a 5 point average. So if a visa is issued for a 7 point average, then the rider is included in Team building plans as a 7 pointer, even if he has a 5 average.

I have to abide by UKVI rules, so should they..

Why?

Because we don't get to see some second rate riders?

Instead, those places should go to young British riders which WOULD help the sport in this country.

If it was funny perhaps...

Instead it was an ill-educated, bordering on racist post.

As has been said, all other walks of life are required to abide by the work permit rules. Those that don't can be punished heavily, speedway should be thankful that isn't happening in this case.

Despite the gibberish spouted by folk such as Tsunami, you don't see poor quality work permit players in most other sports.. I note he hasn't made further comment regarding his utterly incorrect claims regarding footballs lower leagues.

Well I'm sorry BW - I thought it was funny. I don't consider myself ill educated or Racist. I can laugh at Jokes about white (Englishman, Irishman and Scotsman) people too.

This is where all this bloody Politically Correct rubbish causes trouble.

Why do you think it was funny?

Why would being black and having six kids have any bearing on gaining a work permit?

It's nothing to do with Political Correctness...

Rubbish . Ok we dont live in Elite League land , but over the last few years we have been greatly entertained by the likes of Shane Parker , Rusty Harrison , Kozza Smith etc . Ok they might be second rate to EL supporters , but they have graced our league and entertained us greatly . It would be sad to say goodbye to their like

Of course it is.

It was an off hand joke by KeithM that was meant in fun that the do-gooders on here jumped on straight away. It just demonstrates that even the most harmless remarks can be picked up on, and turned in to something they are not.

No the wonder there is so much trouble and prejudice - you get the feeling that some people just can't wait......................................................

Not rubbish at all.

The work permit criteria wouldn't prevent the majority of Australians who have come to this country from riding. Without checking I suspect those three would have met the relevant criteria most seasons.

The issue has stemmed from riders of lower quality than those coming over.

Of course it is.

It wasn't a harmless thing.

I hate political correctness, but that comment had nothing at all to do with 'political correctness' and is PRECISELY the reason there is so much trouble and prejudice.

The only way you could find the joke funny is if you had a pre-held belief that if you were black with 6 kids you would get a work permit.

This is ill-educated nonsense.

Well I would have thought it funny if he had put they were from Australia and said white people with six kids.

You really are stretching things here BW.

Mind you, it does appear that, at present, Australian Speedway Riders are having more trouble getting in to this Country than all of the Illegal Immigrants from other Countries - White or Black.
