The White Knight
Happened at Reading for the World Cup Final in 2006. The (normally closed) back straight stand was reopened with dedicated stewarding and a strict capacity limit Let's hope that it can happen at Sheffield then. Particularly in these circumstances. CaptainAudi
Not strictly testimonial related, but there are discussions on the Edinburgh Facebook page for a joint Scottish fundraising day with a charity football match vs Glasgow fans to raise more money for Ricky. Venue and date to be announced when confirmed.
Falcon Hammer
Agree, would like to see the back straight terrace open and full for this one. Think they will have to. This meeting is going to be as big/bigger than Ben Fund at Leicester Lovely family, lovely lad - no coincidence. Keep fighting Ricky
proud panther
Think there is a real possibility that Sheffield will struggle to get all the fans in for this. Do they have the option of opening more of the stadium up, or would it be a H&S issue ?
Trees
Went to the WTC not so many years ago when the back straight was open ..... so guessing it could happen?
westhamboy66
Would bring great memories back for me standing on the back straight admiring the style of the Morans blasting around Owlerton. No better place to watch Speedway let's hope they open it for the day

Shadders
I found that video very difficult to watch. I've spent some time with Ricky in the Black & Gold after meetings, although I admit I've never spoken with him. Bandits fans hold him in the highest regard and deservedly so. I was at Scunthorpe the night he had the accident and it was horrifying. We will definitely be at Owlerton
spin king
I found that video very difficult to watch. I've spent some time with Ricky in the Black & Gold after meetings, although I admit I've never spoken with him. Bandits fans hold him in the highest regard and deservedly so. I was at Scunthorpe the night he had the accident and it was horrifying. We will definitely be at Owlerton Found it hard myself to watch. I am not sure how I thought his recover was, but when you see him posting on Facebook you got the feeling that maybe he was making a faster recovery than what he is really. The video certainly brought it home that he still has a massive way to and it is blatantly obvious that his proud family need our help attend the benefit meeting for Ricky. Ricky gave 11 seasons of his career to Sheffield, virtually unheard of these days in any sport he was loyal and passionate and nobody wore the Tigers race jacket with more pride than Ricky, and nobody knew how to get the crowd going more than Ricky. He won the Pairs for Sheffield with Josh Auty, but his defining moment was the PLRC win in 2009, a little know fact the engine that Ricky used for that meeting was tuned by Ricky himself, and the guy made all his own frames, the one thing that you could say about Ricky is he is a very bright and very talented young man. In 2012 he moved over to Berwick and totally won over the Bandits fans, and proved to all the doubters out there that he was just an Owlerton track specialists, but could compete and beat the very best in the Premier League. My message is if you are thinking of attending this meeting, do it. And lets make it a bumper day for this extremely talented young man, who has suffered the misfortune of a serious injury.

My ex brother in law suffered a serious brain injury in a motorbike crash 30 odd years ago, and similar to Ricky was in a coma for a while. His has been a very long recovery, so I'm not surprised Ricky's progress is slow, but at least he's in good hands with his family. What a remarkable man his father is. He needs support as much as Ricky. As a father of a handicapped child myself I understand what he's going through. This very brave family deserve our support Edited January 3, 2015 by Shads
AndyK86
Will be at this meeting no doubt ! He gave us many memorable moments in Tigers colours and deserves this meeting which I hope gives Ricky and his family all the help they need in creating Ricky his own space in the house which hopefully helps him improve as well. Keep fighting Ricky !!!

Guest
I have seen this on Facebook. Wonderful effort by David Mason: "Hats off to Eastbourne Eagles skipper and former London Lion David Mason on his planned bicycle ride from Eastbourne to Ricky Dave Ashworth home to raise money for the injured star." Ray Stadia
Only just seen the video, all said and done, he is doing well and as someone else said, what a great and loving dad. It is in my diary to attend on the 22nd March.
