Popular Post tigerowl
If anyone is thinking twice about going to the meeting, then watching this video should make your mind up how important it is to do so. Ricky was a true 100% speedway rider and was an absolute pleasure to watch in action. Although the video is heartbreaking, it is great to see him still with us and making progress, however slow. Let's give Ricky and his fantastic family the support he deserves. Edited December 11, 2014 by tigerowl
PHILIPRISING
TERRIFIC feature by Paul Rickett on Ricky in this week's Speedway Star
topsoil
Hopefully this meeting attracts some big names and even more importantly a huge crowd. It's very important that fans and the sport in general doesn't forget people like Ricky. I would like to see my team Berwick do something each year in Ricky's name, an annual challenge against Sheffield, name the Stars of Tomorrow meeting after him, the Rider of the Year Award, something like that, just to their bit for him.

Popular Post Arson fire
I just watched the video showing what a struggle his life is, let's hope everything he needs can be supplied.I work with ABI everyday and it puts enormous pressure on not only the injured but family aswell... Hope this is well supported and used to flag up Accuired brain injury in this country, as it very often slips under the radar. Keep fighting Ricky lad, love the fact you wont have a chair or stair lift, and hats off to you're folks. Hope the day is a tremendous success.

weatherwatcher
I put the video on but it was to upsetting to watch after the first few moments. It just shows though how much we take for granted in life. I know how hard things can be when in 2001 my vertibrae collapsed in my neck and trapped my spinal chord it changed my life drematically. To the what has happened to a young fit and healthy young man of 31, and what it has done to him it was heartbreaking to watch. I only hope that he continues to get better as time goes by, it will be a very hard road I am sure. He is very lucky in that he has parents who are there for him and look after his care. Some people are not so lucky. I hope the meeting for him raises the money they need and more to make his life much easier. All the best lad and keep fighting.
proud panther
Brought a tear to my eyes watching the video, but what an inspiring character Ricky's dad is. Will never forget the tragic evening at Scunthorpe, & will definitely be at Sheffield for his testimonial. Can somebody post the various sponsorship packages available if they are sorted please ? Popular Post Mr Ore
I'm a huge Ricky fan and followed his sister's tweets daily during the period he was in a coma. As has been said the pressure on his family has also been enormous and to see the pain coupled with dignity she showed was humbling. She travelled miles to be at his side as well as having her own studies to contend with and her grief was tear jerking stuff. I can't justify paying £90 to a petrol company to attend though when it would be better spent on the Ashworth family. Will therfore be sending the cost of fuel and two addmissions to the fund instead which would mean they get more than if we were there. It shouldn't matter who is riding or whether people can attend or not. Everyone is able to pay into the fund. Go if you can and support whoever is riding; it doesn't have to be big names, but still contribute if you can't. There really are no excuses.
Halifordukesfan
Watch this video and you realize that virtually every grumble on the whole of this British speedway forum pales into insignificance in comparison. Hears to Ricky's continued recovery' and the biggest benefit meeting ever next March.
Steve0
Broke my heart watching the video and makes you realise what riders are putting in the line every time they get on a bike. It will be a long road to recovery but he is making progress and I wish him all the very best in his rehabilitation and hope people dig deep for him.
