sommelier
'Every conversation'.. he was giving his latest set of excuses for his actions... if there was a time to mention it, that would have been it.. Who are the 'some' who mention it in 'every conversation'? If I am being 100% honest then yes there were times when I was younger that I did use it as an excuse. It's totally oblivious that something is wrong with Bridger, he had is best season ever for Lakeside & in Poland. So why would he retire when he was riding so well!!

It was the time to mention it in your opinion, he obviously thinks in a different way to you. Let's face it whatever he said you wouldn't change your view, which is your right. Some of us have differing views. As to the "some" I doubt you would know them, but most of us know someone who does it. Whether they actually do indeed have depression is a matter of opinion as many that suffer are very reluctant to say so. Depression is a horrible illness that affects people in many different ways and I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

Maybe Bridger is, maybe he isn't.
The White Knight
I completely agree with you for those truly suffering from depression. Maybe Bridger is, maybe he isn't. Obviously you think there is a possibility that Lewis is telling the truth. You indicate that in the highlighted sentence. Perhaps, because of that, you could cut him some slack? As I said earlier, I have modified my views because of this and because his actions would seem to be symptomatic of Depression. I hope like hell he doesn't suffer from it, but if he does, he needs our sympathy not our condemnation.
