Warsaw Gp Saturday 18th April

No, it wasn't.

The track has been built by the Danish company Speed Sport, owned by former world champion Ole Olsen. Preparations began two months before the Warsaw competition . Nearly four thousand tons of a special aggregates, which is the staff speedway tracks are made of , were loaded in King's Lynn in East England on the ship. "Celtic Warrior" which after three days docked in the Polish port at Gdansk. From there it was carried by150 trucks to Warsaw.

Polish fans were asking - why the track material was imported from abroad? - They were told that a company laying temporary tracks, has extensive experience in the construction of such facilities. It took them some time to develop a proper, proven blend of aggregates, and because of that the material always comes from the same place. The same was true for the GP events in Cardiff and Copenhagen, where it was used track construction aggregates from England.

I thought it's bound to be our fault. Was the ship carrying Shale or rubbish - Cow-dung ??? :t:

Why build a temp track which this could happen too when you have the stadiums and tracks in place already?

Think the answer is obvious. If it works it is a big success.Great stadium full with 50,000 fans and good speedway. On the other hand if it fails it is a big,big disaster. You have lots of people upset and angry.People like to take chances because the rewards can be good. But by now they shoud have learnt from the many failures. This time there can be no excuses

Double edged sword though.Guess this will be a very short practice, because how many times has the practice mucked up the track? If they have managed to get it into shape I just hope this won't put them back to square one again

DIDN'T go to practice myself but have spoken to Tony Briggs, who did, and seems riders are happy with track.

Does of course beg the question why it wasn't yesterday which would have saved a lot of people a sleepless night.

The question does get asked but the answer is always the same. By the very nature of these tracks, on occasions some areas do not bind together and the problem does not always materialise until two or three days after the track has been laid. It's more like baking a soufflé than a cake, it doesn't always come out perfect. It's not an exact science.

Because Olsen can make more money by building a track rather than using an existing one.

....and we ALL know now that he only cares about finances and not one hoot about actually giving the fans good and exciting racing!! :( The sooner he is finally kicked out and allowed the tracks to prepare surfaces that we can have good racing on rather than his slick rubbish, the better.

One thing you can normally be pretty sure about with any GP in Poland, is that it will be good racing but one thing you can normally be pretty sure about with any GP's on "temporary" services, is that it WON'T be!!

Lets hope tonight bucks the trend but I fear it could be another "trappers" heaven :(
