Tai Woffinden Misses Next Years El

Recommended Posts

Don't blame Woffinden, blame the people that run Elite League Speedway. It's not attractive in terms of pay rates or consistency. Poland and Sweden, possibly Denmark have all overtaken the once leading Speedway Nation. You go where the work is that supports your ultimate goals. Why so bitter...

One by one they will disappear. Who can blame them The Country that requires the most time and effort yet pays the least. A no brainer. The drain of the top riders will continue. What the Riders want and want the Promotors need are now miles apart. Riders need more £/€ for less work while owners want to reduce costs to cope with shrinking attendance levels. It really does not stack up.

Isn't it called something like "an ever diminishing circle"?

Have to admit that I am a bit disappointed that Tai hasn't taken up the offer of sharing a team place possibly with Piotr Pawlicki.

He wanted less meetings and perhaps one race night. Well had he of done say 8 home and 6 away then that may have been close if he rode one at Belle Vue and any away meeting life on Sky giving him possibly 10 meetings on a Monday and four elsewhere.

Hopefully they can get him to change his mind before Christmas ........ PLEASE !!!!!

This change that was kept quiet was aimed to get the stars back in the EL so I would think it would only apply to the number 1 spot in the team and Wolves already have (not so) fast Freddie

Hardly a surprise. Also in breaking news, the pope is a catholic.

Seems like an atheist plant to me which is probably a good thing :)

Good luck to Tai. He did his bit for the sport as world champion and now is doing it for himself.

Hope he wins next years GP series and wins it well :)

I thought it was the number one spot but its a team place so Tai and Piotr could job share.

Very interestingly, Peter Adams comments on the Wolverhampton website have been changed and now there is no mention of 'shared team places' for Tai or anyone else!!

I think someone may have dropped a.......................clanger?!

In 2009 Scott Nicholls also dropped elite league so no different than what Tai is doing

Agree to a point. However, Woffinden is a genuine championship contender who has seen his main rivals utilse a free schedule and obviously feels its the way to go. With the best will in the world, Nicholls was not a contender in 2009, so him dropping the EL made little sense.

Why on earth would he do that????

Maybe an attempt to make it look like the BSPA decided to bend to what riders wanted but Tai jacked in it anyway as opposed to the reality that they havent actually done anything and theres only less fixtures because Eastbourne pulled out
