phillipsr
personally Tai has always been my favourite rider and i think this is the best thing for his career. I can however see him getting alot of abuse for it. What are peoples opinions??
BWitcher
Good on him for making an early decision allowing Wolverhampton to plan ahead. Hopefully he will regain his World Title.
Jonny the spud
Hardly a surprise. Also in breaking news, the pope is a catholic.
BluPanther
Don't blame him at all, it's a professional decision from a dedicated sportsman imo...
orion
He's used the flag and the uk league and now has pissed off ...Cheers Tai
R87
He wants to be world champion again. Cant really blame him for this decision. Neither him nor the management were entirely blameless for last season, as PA said he pressured him to riding here when really his heart wasn't in it. EnglishRoundabout
Agree with what's been said so far on this thread. Historically however, riders who opt out of the EL so as they can "concentrate their efforts on the GP" soon come back pretty quickly normally saying the EL "keeps them sharp". Good luck to Tai, I hope this decision brings him the world crown again.

Mjolnir
Historically however, riders who opt out of the EL so as they can "concentrate their efforts on the GP" soon come back pretty quickly normally saying the EL "keeps them sharp". Hopefully AJ will be doing exactly that for next year! Although to be fair he has had quite a few years away. I completely understand the reasons why Tai is sitting out EL, but as a fan it will be a shame not to have him riding over here. As others have said, I'm glad he has decided this early on, and for the Wolves fans I'm glad that Freddie will be taking his place. I think this probably has less to do with the strength of the EL and the reward for riding here, and more to do with the amount of additional effort riding in Britain is compared with other leagues. See you at Cardiff Tai! Edited November 25, 2014 by Mjolnir

CaptainAudi
So where does that leave him in terms of the British Championship? As the qualifying is done by EL/PL/NL average at a certain date is it not, so will he be eligible if he's not riding in the country??
superguest
I can understand his reasoning. It may suit him. Hope he is able to enjoy his racing again. Wolves will be fine. And im sure if it doesnt work out he will be able to come back.
uk_martin
It's one in the eye for the BSPA who stated that the EL was ready to welcome GP riders back to these shores. With Iversen having doubts about returning to the EL, and Darcy no longer being a GP rider, how many top GP riders will the EL end up having in the end? phillipsr
Would hope they sort a way the British Championship without the defending champion if he was fit would be laughable Edited November 25, 2014 by phillipsr
ch958
we should really stop and smell the coffee before its too late - we can not afford the world class talent merge the 2 leagues at pl level or very slightly higher and watch the world class riders in open meetings, GP, etc and for heavens sake find a way of cutting machinery costs in our leagues - let the other leagues/GPs do what the hell they want but we have to find a way to survive and the futility of trying to compete with Sweden and Poland is not the way to survive
LagutaRacingFan
He has used and abused British speedway. We trained him up, now he's jumped ship for the money in Sweden and Poland. and people give Darcy Ward stick... Darcy would never turn his back on the British Speedway fans. Woz01
It's the statement that annoys me. He blames it on the travelling yet he will still be flying to Poland, Sweden and UK. If it was because of travelling he would have dropped Sweden like he did when he won the world title in 2013. He has chose to drop UK because of money end of.

These people are risking there life racing speedway and he has already said he struggled with illness with last years schedule. If he is risking his life who can blame him wanting the most money he can get to do it. Think it's you that's deluded.
