Who Is The Best Pl Number One Ever?

Recommended Posts

When I was younger I only watched speedway at Exeter, the only away tracks I ever went too was either poole or Weymouth, but mostly just Exeter.

I have a very distorted memory of most of the riders as ones I remember being fantastic on the Exeter track were often useless elsewhere, and vica versa

Sometimes though, quality shines through, and there were some riders who adapted to the Exeter track just as brilliantly as they did any other track

The best I remember were Phil Crump, Steve Schofield, Martin Yeates, Stan Bear, Gordon Kennett, but the best of the lot and bias as he rode for my beloved Exeter was Steve Regeling

From the riders i have watched:

Loram

Louis

Galvin

Schofield

Havelock

Silver

Thorp

Stonehewer

Wilson

Those mentioning Cook are having a laugh. Wouldnt make the top 20 of best ever premier league number ones. Look at the class of the riders ive listed and where the majority got to on the world stage. Cook isnt even close.

And thats without mentioning the Owens, Lawson , Wilcock, Garrard, Cox, Les Collins, Kennett , Perks. Riders i didnt really see race as was only bout 5 or 6 when they were about.

Cook is dominant in an era where the standard is lower than late 80's early 90's so he would not make my top 20

NO HE DID NOT HAVE AN ARGUAMENT WITH PETER WAITE OVER A VAN.

The disagreement was when the new promotion took over when Dave Peat was the manager. Adrian wanted to buy the marroon transit van off the butchers, they did not want to sell it, he went to Workington instead. There were all sorts of rumours New Vans, New engines etc. etc. none of which were true, the deal fell through over a very small amount of money, mainly to do with insurance, tyres and fuel.
