Bjarne Pedersen

Recommended Posts

With Eastbourne no longer in the Elite League and Bjarne being on a 7.38 average.

Would anyone take him in there team for 2015 ?

He has quit Britain in 2015 to spend more time with his family and because he couldn't make British Racing pay anymore.

Without the financial backing from his (mainly Poole) sponsors, he would have lost money in the past few seasons!!

He has been a regular in British speedway so it'll be a shame to see him missing next season, but if he isn't making enough money then spending more time with his family definitely sounds like the better option!

bjarne is a top bloke and ever the professional, I will never forget what he did for the Pirates I would rank Bjarne as probably my most favourite rider to ever have worn the skull and crossbones his commitment to the Pirates was second to none and always had time for a chat.

And of course I wish him all the best in the future hope to see him ride Poole one more time for a farewell.

He hasn't retired from Speedway, just the EL.

For a rider who had a reputation for being a boring sod I always thought he was quite ruthless and quite exciting. He had too many good races with Scott Nicholls in '07-08 season for me to start trying to describe them but there were many passes by each of them. Ok he wasn't ever a hang of the bike thrill merchant but he certainly wasn't the boring rider he was made out to be. I'd have happily had him at Brandon as a Bee at some point in his career if we gloss over the possible, alleged taking it easier vs Poole - especially as I can imagine, sub-consciously, if you have strong feelings for a club it must make it difficult to put in so much effort against them for some.

Them few years he had where he really stepped it up showed he was a class act too, I always wonder what went wrong for him in late 08 and then through '09 as he seemed to lose it and never quite got "it" back again. How many riders would kill to lose "it" though and still be a consistent 7-8 point EL man for 5 years!

As for ruthless, again, Scott Nicholls, at Brandon, 3 years ago on Sky. Ouch! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=56iG_zpG988

I have never believed for one second that Bjarne has ever 'slackened' off when riding against Poole - it's just something we all like to think may happen in order to have a go at the Pirates! In fact I don't think its in the nature of any speedway rider to not try to win every race.
