SCB
That thought crossed my mind, but obviously something has been agreed between all parties, as there were Drury's thanks to Sheffield and Wolves mentioned in the press release...maybe one or the other of these will be "resting" Bates for the time that the Brummies need him? Possibly? Maybe SCB will join in, to apply his knowledge of the ins and outs and sometimes the shake it all abouts of the rules governing the use of riders in multiple leagues. AFAIK, there is no such rule. Bates is an excellent signing that seems to meet all the criteria. For all Drurys faults, he never slow in make a team change be it to replace a struggling rider or to replace someone who is injured.
greyhoundp
I used to respect gp's post but starting to sound bitter--about time the Brummies had some success after playing second fiddle to Cradley for years--you know what gp i don't care Mate i dont care that you dont care, Im happy that Brum are doing well, an old mate of mine is Brian Buck, as you know its hard playing second fiddle to near neighbours, i said at the start of the season Top three would come from Mildenhall, Birmingham and Cradley injuries permitting, i wasnt to far out with that, i have said on other social media pages Jack Smith would be a decent addition to Brums seven, but it really looks like you dont need him. Countershaftcounter
How many more meetings would Brum have to do before they could be sure of winning the NL ? want's the earliest they could sew it up ?
guitar_art
My hope is that the Cradley meeting is the one that is needed to win the thing. I think it may come a wee bit to early though. That would be a good one to do it and it would bring in a big crowd as I imagine the Cradley fans would love to disappoint us, which is entirely possible. Would be a great night. Islander15
How many more meetings would Brum have to do before they could be sure of winning the NL ? want's the earliest they could sew it up ? They need 18 more points to finish above Cradley and 17 more to finish above Eastbourne. But that's assuming their opponents pick up all their available points, which they won't, so less in reality but the Cradley vs Birmingham fixture will probably be too soon. StephenMiller
As expected - reserve changes for the Brummies final matches :- http://www.birminghambrummies.co/news.php?extend.2168 BIRMINGHAM have made two reserve switches for this Sunday's crucial meeting at Eastbourne.Graham Drury has opted to rest out-of-form Alex Wilson for the trip to Arlington with club No.8 Robert Parker handed another opportunity in the National League.Meanwhile, with Harvie Banks still on the sidelines with a recurring wrist problem, highly rated youngster Jack Smith will guest at No.7Surestop Brummies' team manager Graham Drury said: "After last weekend's defeat to Buxton, I knew I needed to do something to give us the best opportunity possible if we want to win this National League."I really wanted to stick with the same set of riders that got us into the position at the top of the table that we find ourselves in, but Alex Wilson was at rock bottom last Sunday as a result of his recent struggles."We're looking at getting him to do four or five Midland Development League meetings between now and our next home match on September 2nd and we'll monitor his performances and re-asses the situation then."Jack is a rider I've heard a lot about and one I have briefly spoken to previously."He's a rider who will come in as a guest and if he rides to his potential then who knows, it may not be the only time we see him in Birmingham colours."A fair few other people have recommended Jack too and Zach (Wajtknecht) played his part in getting him in our line-up for Sunday too."Eastbourne is a big meeting for us and we want to give ourselves as much of a chance as we can to come away from Arlington with at least a league point." eric i
how have the crowds been this year at Birmingham? any intention to move up to the premier league?
Deano
Crowds have been better than last year. Probably better than the year before too. Moving up? Haven't a clue.
CUFC_Brummie
Didn't Drury say a few weeks ago that the crowds were right on the borderline to make a move up to the PL viable? I would like us to do so but I'd wager that we will probably stay in the NL, safer option, seemingly have a decent thing going with Cradley, and there's no guarantee there'll be space in the PL anyway. Sings4Speedway
Sadly he wasn't good enough to jump straight in having only ridden a couple of UK tracks. With a seasons (half a season) experience under his belt he might be a useful recruit? With Jack Smith almost certain to be in one of the reserve berths will it be Banks, Wilson or Parker in the other?

SCB
Do you know the reason that Adam Ellis could not ride for aTeam in PL and be able to ride for Brummies then? just wondering! PL average over 4 means he could not double up. But a PL average under 5 meant he could ride NL. Edited September 17, 2015 by SCB
