Ray Stadia
Last night on Panorama, 3rd Nov, they were on the trail of Greyhound Racing. The usual issues, dog doping and what happens to the dogs when they retire. They were also calling for more regulation. Obviously we know that greyhound tracks are speedway's bed fellows in many cases, so this is not exactly good news as they were suggesting greyhound racings days could be numbered. What was interesting, is they showed Coventry and Wimbledon stadiums, which on TV, looked in good nick!

Ray Stadia
Library pictures ? Could be Triple, but Wimbledon was showing only a tarmac track, i.e. stock car track. I am surprised other forum members didn't see it, as it does have an impact on speedway.

greyhoundp
Here is the video referred to by Ray http://greyhoundscene.proboards.com/thread/58338/panorama-video Whilst Doping does go on in the sport, namely the stopping of greyhounds, you can never make them run faster, it is only a very small element that do it or attempt to do it. For me the biggest scandal in the Sport is the allocation of GBGB Funds, you have people on Committees who allocate themselves Grants to, Improve restaurants, Put in Lifts, buy new Tractors, Car Park resurfacing, these are Grants NOT Loans, and its commonly known as the Gravy Train within the Sport, another scandal is family members being awarded contracts for work, when they are not even the lowest tender. That's because it's maintained by the same stock car company who have made so many improvements to the facilities at Ipswich's Foxhall Heath stadium. I am not sure that is strictly true. I have owned 3 greyhounds and owned them over a 2 year period. In that time, my trainer told me stories about what goes on and that he was no angel. I could name you, from that period, 4 trainers that I was aware of that would not run their dog on its merits. You would also see the trainers in the betting ring so for you to say it's a small element I think is untrue.
