oldtimer
Jim Lynch is correct when he says, "I think we have a very amateur set up in terms of ruling the sport." He is wrong though, when he says the double up rule completely favours the Premier League, I could give him a long list of matches where Premier riders were missing because they were riding in the Elite League. However the most stupid comments in this weeks Star come from Newcastle promoter Darryl Illingworth who suggests it's time to amalgamate the leagues and he would like to see two up and two down after a play off, with a SKY payment for clubs coming down and going up. The problems with this suggestion is so obvious I can't be bothered to list them.
Double Up
Jim Lynch is one, of many, who've previously been involved in the sport but now stand on the periphery. It's easy to criticise from afar, and I stand to be corrected, but has he ever had his own money invested in the sport? Of the last two clubs he managed Reading closed, shortly after he and BSI abandoned it, and Peterborough have been through god knows how many different promotions since, with their future still in doubt. I hardly think he is the person to suggest where the sport is going wrong.

Jim and partner Ian, of Contraband, were the promoters of Peterborough from about 1997 for several years, During that period Jim had Simon Stead, Dave Howe, Ollie Allan, Darren & Jamie Smith, Paul Clews all as youngsters winning the PL and taking some of them up to the EL when he joined that league. Well let's be fair Jim Lynch is only saying what we all know, the EL is broken and badly needs re structuring, personally I think Tony Steele is an excellent choice to do the job. CVS, Harkess and Cook etc haven't got the brains to sort this mess out so why not give someone with a half decent reputation the chance to sort it out for once.
