R87
Interested to read Jim Lynch's comments in the star. Obviously is saying what most of us have been saying for years, but I think most of of what he said is correct. I think it says a lot about the current setup that Lynch is critical of the fast track scheme, and then 2 pages later we have Neil Vatcher declaring it a "100% success". foamfence
What about the fans though? Well I like it, it does need a few tweaks for next year though. I should think Phil Morris already has a plan.
moxey63
Most of the riders thinks the fast track system is great? Well, pandering to riders, has brought about a lot of speedway's current probs. It's fans they should be pandering to, first and foremost. Well I like it, it does need a few tweaks for next year though. I should think Phil Morris already has a plan. You will no doubt in the minority... as most fans continue to find a fast track way of ditching the sport. Reading the piece it seems Jim Lynch has gone the way of many fans " I hardly go any more and watch it on the tele" Although stating that in his opinion many things were wrong he admitted that personally he did not know what the solutions were. screm
I think the BSPA are on the right track with the fast track system, but have made a mistake in its practice. NL riders should've been reserves for PL teams, with the younger GB riders taking up reserve positions in the EL.
IAN2
Of course Jim Lynch is correct has he got a degree in stating the obvious, will He be listened too as he has not got a vested interest now, I very much doubt it, Speedway is a closed select Club whereby you go with the majority or sink without trace. Speedway as it stands is well on the road to ruin and without massive change its doomed, those with the money will cut and run and in my humble opinion will have to re-invent itself from grass root level and a much lower standard, but with better closer racing at an affordable level, which it most certainly is not now. It was the Premier League Promoters who made the decision not go with FTR , so the E/L took it on , it seems they thought guys like Aaron Fox and the like where a better option than British youngsters . OGT
Maybe a lot of riders like it because they can beat most of the fast trackers! #easymoney

Why should he be listened to if he says he doesn't know the solutions? Typical Speedway Star drivel, a two page article of which almost the whole of the first page consists of Lynch's ugly mug, then a page setting out a string of problems that are blatently obvious to most of us anyway, but like most others he can't come up with a workable and affordable solution, apart from giving the whole thing to Tony Steele to sort out and telling us that Matt Ford should be a role model for every promoter in the country (which presumably would mean even more cheating). It would be nice if just for once SS could come up with some insightful, answers rather than telling the fans about the problems that are obvious anyway.

I've only watched some meetings from this years Elite and not even one in full. The fast track heats look awful. Kids on bikes too big in every way wiggling it around for four laps, if they make it that far. Thats Elite, isnt it. We have better racing in Finland. Good thing Kelvin and Nigel have been doing tv for 2 decades, they've turned pro's in talking turd as roses.

I don't know what you've been watching then, but all the fast trackers even if some, were riding way out of their comfort zone were more than capable of sitting on and riding 500 cc bikes. I take it you watched the few, meetings as you put in on the TV then..

Personally ive said this many moons ago, British riders should have been brought up from the PL and replaced from the NL. Its worked for some, but not others. It certainly needs tinkering at this years AGM.. Edited October 31, 2014 by Starman2006

Yet most probably the whole ft program will either get ditched, or stays the same. Just my opinion.
Trees
What about the fans though?I personally loved it, probably because our two FTR's were local so it was fantastic to be able to support them at our club :-) They also did really well, so it was double whammy for us.Of course I think all clubs needed one really good FTR and a mistake was made not to include those few young guys who were border line because then each team would have had a good number 6. Woz01
The Fast Track system is the only decent thing the bspa has done in recent seasons. Add the likes of Roynon, Birks etc and it will be competitive in the reserve positions next year. Edited November 3, 2014 by woz01
