A new ACU affiliated track racing club has launched today with its base at Iwade.

Although not speedway I know alot of people are interested in Iwade so check out the new website www.sitrauk.org for details of this amazing new venture.

The Speedway ' Out of Control' Bureau should be ashamed at letting this venue go, more fool them. Onward and upward away from stupid regulations designed to destroy the sport of grass roots training circuits.

Does this mean that iwade is not a licensed SCB track anymore. If so, do they still plan to stage amateur speedway meetings like those occasionally held at lydd.

It looks really interesting and should be of help to many different riders. http://www.sitrauk.org/

If you open the new Website you will see that the SCB does not licence the track anymore and amateur flat track racing does figure in future plans.

Amateur flat track racing is not the same as amateur speedway. Does this mean that iwade is finished as a pukka speedway track.

To quote the website;

"SITRA will be working with Sittingbourne Speedway Ltd over the winter of 2014 into spring 2015 to enhance the facilities at the venue and, in conjunction with the ACU, are bringing the track up to FIM standards for not only Solos but also 500cc sidecars and 1000cc Right Hand sidecars making SITRA a club that can support all categories of motorcycle sports."

So I would say no.

500cc laydown (and indeed upright) machines are more than welcome at SITRA.

Speedway is a term used by the SCB and as an ACU club we are not entitled to use the term.

We can however run the machines at the track and will continue to do so.

As to the question is Iwade still a pukka speedway track none of the major improvements we are making would stop a speedway meeting taking place there. Its just as a club we went ACU.

What we have done is create a club that offers a unique facility for a number of classes.

Perhaps the way forward for many venues.

  • 4 months later...

Hi Gustix

I have checked all the links today on a laptop and mobile device And they all work fine as they have for months.

I have also asked others to check and no problem.

Will check again tomorrow But there is no issue we or the Web company can find.

Although I expect to be shot down for being too pedantic, but does this topic belong in the speedway section. Surely sidecars and flat track racing would be more at home with grass track.

Is Speedway not involved at all?

I understood it was part of the overall Plan that Speedway was to be involved there. If so then this Thread IS the appropriate Section.
