Cupidstunt
Watched him in the junior Golden Helmet,a risk worth taking he can turn left when he reaches a corner I'm sure,I would imagine his equipment will be top notch for 5 pt "rookie".Fox done the job he was brought in for(kept a good rider in reserve for most of the season).the Edinburgh Promotion are smarter than most with their Team building as results show. I don't think fox did his job as he lost a point and a half on his average. It is good that edinburgh are bringing in yet another young rider,it is what's needed in the PL as it is so easy to always go for the same old same old, there is too many riders in their late 30's who's averages have dropped loads are still getting a team as they were once a decent rider. I think Edinburgh have the 2nd/3rd best number 1 in the league with cookie if Wolbert rides like he can then he could be a number 1 rider but is a risk I think Sedgeman has reached his level but a good 3rd heat leader Sam Masters is also quality and could get to be number 1 Clegg will struggle a lot Branford you never know, don't think he will get out of reserve and if he does then that means Riss is struggling
TheScotsman
Cookie is the stand out number 1 in the league. So we bring in another world champion - good stuff! So many championees in this side - should be good to watch. Â Looking forWard to the Monarchs v Tiggers and Monarchs v Panthers battles. Some mental comments on here but this takes the biscuit
Bagpuss
Indeed, the fact that he has finished top of the averages three years running and is the standout rider forms the whole basis of the argument that he should have left the PL behind by now. Can't see things changing this year although Danny King might push him harder having been to most of the tracks last year. dontforgetthefueltapsbruv
Riss could be a decent signing. Â His speedway pedigree is perhaps still in question but there is no doubt of his natural talent from his longtrack results. Â The Monarchs certainly make less mistakes than most with assessed riders. Edited December 23, 2014 by dontforgetthefueltapsbruv

Bagpuss
I like to think of it as lively discussion rather than argument we really should do it at the EoeS over a beverage one week next year!

One has tried the elite league and abroad and the world cup and the other is just happy where he is! Â I hope Danny does become top dog as an Ipswich fan, but i think he will be in the next line of riders like Barker.
Bagpuss
I personally think King is the next best in the PL after Cook and has a bit of improvement in him now he is familiar with the league again. Stead along with Barker, Allen, Kennett, Lawson, Fisher etc will do well to achieve any significant increase. Bjerre and Kerr are the two number ones with potential to improve a fair bit but both are some way off Cook & King currently.

Stead knocked up hardly any.

Stead finished top of the averages without bonuses because he cleared off to win and left his teammate to finish 3rd or last.  Craig finished top when bonuses were added because of those 5-1's where he was happy to sit back and finish behind Sedgy. Pob
Can remember when Erik dad Gerd came to these shores for the Witches and formed a very partnership with armando castagna could be a very good signing for the Monarchs

I don't think it's necessarily as simple as that, Cook rode in a title winning team with a very capable partner, Stead probably had little choice other than to 'clear off and win' nine times out of ten.

Probably near the truth than any of the other statements made about the two. Â End of the day both Cook and Stead were pretty much head and shoulders above anyone else in the league.
PHILIPRISING
ERIC Riss could turn out to be the signing of the winter. Those who have seen him ride on speedway tracks rave about him. Good looking kid, great personality, desperate to do well.
