Cliffeboy
Sooooooooo back to the Somerset thread 2015. 1. Josh : Went a bit backwards last season at Worky after a great season with us in 2013, common sense has prevailed and he is back with us hopefully for 2015 with the added bonus of being skipper. I like Josh he has overcome some bad bang ups and was going well last year before his injuries. I can see him sticking half a point on his average this time. 2. Leigh ; I`m guessing this is where the Rebels will use Leigh and he could be an astute signing. His average of 4.9 is a steal, he will definitely improve on this ,and if he can get his nut around the OTA and stay fit I can see him becoming a very important member of the team. Away knowledge will be valuable along with his experience. 3. Brady : Can`t wait to see this young man again, what a talent, struggled a bit on away days last year but mastered the OTA very quickly, can see him challenging for the No 1 jacket. 4. Charles : Very popular Rebel who has come on leaps and bounds for us. A no brainer to quickly get him signed up for 2015. Riding for Swindon will make him better, can see him also sticking half a point on his average. 5. Ritchie : Another rider who went a bit backwards last season, but this lad has talent , good equipment , and will be busting to get his average up in the eights again. 6. Paul : Time for Paul to do a Charles from last season where Charles started at six and moved to number two and finally when Brady got hurt number three. He will be our main strike force at reserve so a lot of pressure on him, but he was outstanding last year recording a paid max at Rye and top scoring in the play off with Edinburgh. 7. Max : The only Rebel I`m not sure of, signed due to Oliver deciding to go with the Panthers. Always a bit awkward signing anyone when someone else is suddenly unavailable for whatever reason. Good luck to him any improvement will be well received by the OTA faithful. Nice to do a post and not mention bl**dy visas.
EIS002
Good post Cliffe and glad that you see Leigh's potential on a 4.9 average.
SteveLyric2
Its a bit unusual for Somerset to have their P&P day on a Wednesday?? March 18th - same day as Poole's - could cause some issues unless the timings are very different, depending on the final team line-ups!!? Might be press and sponsors in the afternnon, and fans after a certain time in the evening. But i would have thought the promotion would have wanted to hold it in daylight hours. And the same day as ours, must be a genuine reason for that.. Edited February 13, 2015 by Starman2006

March 18th - same day as Poole's - could cause some issues unless the timings are very different, depending on the final team line-ups!!? Been done before on a Weds, i think it sometimes relates to when the press are actually available to cover it as much as anything, Cheltenham Festival week before and Bristol City at Wembley that weekend i think. I guess the sponsors have a say in it too. It only affects Starkey at the moment anyway. Might be press and sponsors in the afternnon, and fans after a certain time in the evening. But i would have thought the promotion would have wanted to hold it in daylight hours. And the same day as ours, must be a genuine reason for that.. confused by who you mean by ours???? Somerset or that other team you support?? If you are on about Somerset's the P&P track time is never in daylight hours as bikes aren't allowed to be started until a certain time. Think a small adaption to that stipulation has been granted if a FIM event is staged there and a practice session is required by them. Najjer
As Drew says, we have never had the actual 'practice' part during the daytime.

I made the observation because the article/interview in this week's Star says that Starke will have 'the first opportunity to test his new equipment' at Poole's Wimborne Road on their Press Day on 18th March!! Poole too have an embargo on when bikes can get on the track - it has to be after 3pm so as not to impact on the school next door!

SteveLyric2
Absolutely. That's why I questioned why the Rebels had chosen the same P&P day as Poole's?! It seems a bit crazy for whichever club not to have all their team on show for official photos etc?! I mean what happens if Poole eventually choose to use Josh G and Brady Kurtz?!

Pirate Nick
Went to the Pearson & Tatum do at Poole last night. Very good night, some interesting stories and plenty of merriment. I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone in the Somerset area tonight. Good value for £6.
