Somerset 2015

Recommended Posts

Oh and like none of the other clubs would snap at the chance to get Jack Holder on a 5.00? stop snapping at Somerset because your jealous because it is plain you are. Who here sniped Berwick? good enough for them, good enough for us end of. Would you complain if your club did it?

no one sniped at Berwick as no one seemed to know about the revision.

Posters were praising Somerset initially at putting together another excellent side.

Only a little later did the new 7 assessed position emerge.

As yet there has been no official confirmation that this is actually in place - only a few independant comments of what they say was agreed at the agm.

Pardon, now write that in plain English... No, i asked him to point out to everybody why Jack should come in on a 7. Im still waiting..

OK - the poster named Starman2006 insists on posting ridiculous questions, which 99% of posters realise do not really need a response, however if original poster does not give a full and frank answer which meets aforementioned Starman's requirements, the aforementioned Starman gets very upset and insists on repeating request for the answer he is looking for - eventually getting in a bad mood.

How's that = plain enough - blunt enough??

Scunthorpe Speedway on Twitter:

@SpeedwayScunny: Due to UKBA rules, as a club we were told that Austrailian riders

would come in the the PL as assessed 7point riders for the 2015 season

@SpeedwayScunny: due to this new 7 point ruling we had to drop our interest in two

young Aussies we had an interest in

Plain and simple.

absolutly now I hope Starman has got his answers that the rest of the speedway world already knew lol

What better than Jason Doyle and Nick Morris Somerset's 2013 team? When Worky visited in September last season Josh scored 8 from 5 rides, less than Ollie Allen, Nick Morris, Charles Wright, Todd Kurtz and guest Nic Klindt.

Never said or implied he was as good as Doyle. Very selective argument, but not even 'doubting' you can disagree that Josh is a better rider now.

lets not forget that all teams can list who they have reached agreements with to join them, however before that team can take to the track in an official fixture it has to be approved by the BSPA office/management. Teams in the past have had their plans rejected at this hurdle, likely to be the case here after Zummerzet put forward their planned team or the team being protested to the ref at the first official fixture

It is POSSIBLE that the BSPA office were asked about Jack Holders entry average very early on in 2014 and believed it could be 5, since that time senior officers of the BSPA have had a late season meeting with the Visa people and had their fingers stamped on for applying their own averages instead of the numbers agreed several years ago.

Back in 2001 Czech republic were still outside the EU and Pavel Ondrasik, Pepe Franc, Adrian Rymel, Mike Makovsky, all came into their teams oon a 9 point average

I was under the impression the 2.5% British rider discount had been dropped because it was deemed discrimation against EU citizens which is not allowed, in the matter of work it has to be a level playing field. IF the BSPA continue to ignore or flout Visa and Immigration rules the V & Is answer will be to stop issuing ANY visas for speedway use.

Dont forget the current government policy, and one that is supported by a large percentage of the British population is to reduce immigration, because that isnt currently possible with EU citizens it switches the attention for the reduction to non EU citizens.

In contrast to what you have said and indeed what I have said, I have heard this is nothing to do with the UKBA at all and that they have not issued any direction regarding riders averages.

It seems the truth of the matter is a matter of confusion at the BSPA AGM.

My money is now on Somerset being proved right.

How, when it was announced at the AGM that all new Aussies come in on a 7. At least 3 promotions are quoting that fact, so I don't think that Somerset will get away with another con.

They give each other a jist of who they want at the AGM.

It's possible that this decision has been made as a result of a UKBA decision post-AGM, but the annoying thing is that they just don't bother to announce things officially - most of the time it's done in dribs & drabs by fan gossip and (amazingly) social media from apparently official Twitter accounts.

Bollocks. The decision was made to the people who hire riders.

..............and at least three promotions have signed young Australians on what they believe to be 5.00 averages too.

If its a con by Somerset, its a con by Sheffield - who make absolutely no reference to Sissis having a Greek (apparently) passport and thus qualifying for a 5.00 - and Berwick too. They didn't sign those riders on 7.00 averages.

Were the regulations changed ? There's no sign of it and there was no public announcement of it.

The two questions are how do three clubs think that they come in on a 7.00 and three think they come in on a 5.00, and are Somerset really so stupid as to build a team that exceeds the points limit in the full knowledge (and there's no grey area this year) that that is the case ?

So if nothing was said, why have other promotions condemned the signing on a 7. Do you really think the Rob G would say what he has said unless it was valid.

To turn that round, do you think John Anderson would sign a rider as a 5.00 knowing it was a 7.00 ? Would Damian Bates ?

Perhaps Rob Godfrey thought it was a 7.00.

My point here is that this is not a con by Somerset, its more likely to be a misunderstanding.

Until I see the relevant regulation changed - because there is no evidence that it has - I think Somerset are in the right.
