Ghostwalker
No there will not be a GP in NZ next year. See this thread for next year's SGP-calendar: http://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=77087

He could be a starter, as could two other British riders said to be going to kiwlland for their speedway season.

britmet
Whilst we might accept that if the NZ SGPs lost money and so wouldn't be staged in 2015 (and 2016, - ?), one might think that if a second SGP was being staged downunder that the overheads such as transport of bikes & equipment and travel costs of riders, staff and officials could be shared, (with concurrent staging dates of course,) and hence the figures for a NZ event be re-assessed whereby its viability was turned around. - ? . Can anyone re-assure me that this possibility was at least considered and worked thru by someone ? . .

Do a Google for Speedway New Zealand to see what else the NZ body sanctions.

You'd still need to ship everyone and their equipment from Oz to NZ (or vice versa) which would incur costs, and transport costs are not entirely related to distance. Even so, I'd imagine the transport costs were only part of the wider loss made on the NZ GP, and with (local) government support not forthcoming, was simply not viable on the crowds that were apparently declining after the first year anyway. I'd imagine there was no-one else fool enough in NZ to keep losing money.

I have done but the sound dips to a whisper for a short time at the start. I would also like the full coverage not just the racing element. Yep, if bill b lost $2m as reported then thats not going to be shipping costs alone - though maybe bsi would lower their fee?Would people be happy with the last TWO legs of the championship being run down under. Also the issue of venue, as looking increasingly likely that western springs will lose speedway and become home to cricket instead. Assuming new venue found for bill's "regular" speedway (I believe likely to be Ericsson stadium) question would also be whether the venue is available in october and if practical for track to be laid for one off event. Nz weather also worse in october than march which may affect crowd (and a rsin off would be disastrous), and ericcson I would think less likely to attract the casual sports fan. Would love to have it back, but can't see it in the short term.
