Got to agree with you there. Watched him on the coverage from Krasnagork. He is unbelievably brilliant. Yet he feels he has made his point, and wants to do other things, whilst riding for Ufa in the winter. Conkers
Järf is coming home from Togliatti and will miss the Almaty rounds. Personal reasons are stated as the reason. The reports from Togliatti were that he was suffering from Influenza which is why he withdrew Sunday. Please keep us updated on Mats. DutchGrasstrack
That's right, but he also got some sad news in the paddock (grandfather passed away). Henderson was asked to replace him in Almaty but he declined. No time to drive all the way to Kazakstan and flying (with bike) was not an option financially. Now waiting for confirmation if Nicklas Svensson is up for it.

Klatovsky 38, Bauer 27, Weber 23, Toloknov* 16, Lindstrom 15, Pletschacher 13, Jarf 6, N.K.Svensson 2, Cheblakov* 2 Rather a farce today. When the riders got to the track the Ice was in apaulling condition, and Igor Kononov found that the ice was only 7cm deep. It should be at least 20cm. The track was very loose, with slush and ice shards filling in the ruts from yesterday. The track was worked on and it started an hour late, but to be honest the racing was poor. It was 20 processions. The FIM cancelled the semis and Final, and the points scored stand. Its been 21 years since they were last there with a GP Round. I suspect they won't be rushing back. Finally Franky Zorn had his best meeting for ages and becomes the first non-Russian rider to get on the rostrum in a long time. Seems unlikely Ivanov will retain his title. Sadly, I think you are right. He's too far behind now, but he is starting to pull closer.

Bavarian
The track at St.Johann was in much worse condition than the one at Almaty. Racing on the second day at Almaty was not as bad as on the first day. There were some overtaking manoevres and close battles for positions, and some spectacular crashes, too. The racing, though, I admit, was not as good as it should have been. But except for the problems with the ice surface of the racetrack, the organisation of the two-day event in Kazakhstan was first class. The Ice Speedway Grand Prix Series will be back in Kazahkstan next year, and the year after. Almaty has a 3-year contract with the FIM. Next season the ice racing world Championship may even visit another Asian country. Accordng to the F.I.M., a Grand Prix in China is still on the cards. And then, why shouldn't they be thinking about a revival of the sport in Mongolia as well? Let's hope that Ice Speedway can be established in Asia. It would be a much needed boost for a Sport that seems to vanish more and more in Central and Western Europe.
