Ghostwalker
Not surprisingly, there are concerns regarding the weather for Word championship qualifier at Hallstavik. Just like last year November and December (so far) have had a very "warm" weather which means that no natural ice can form. The long time forecast predicts the current type of weather with temps a few degrees above 0 to continue for the 10 days of the forecast. http://www.racemagazine.se/isracing/mildvader-aventyrar-vm-kval-i-isracing/
f-s-p
Antti Aakko out for the season. Still needs further surgery after last seasons spills.
f-s-p
They are riding speedway tonight at Hallstavik. Three weeks from now, ice racing quali. By the pics on twitter today, no such luck. 👻
Ghostwalker
They are riding speedway tonight at Hallstavik. Three weeks from now, ice racing quali. By the pics on twitter today, no such luck. No unless there is an unexpected major weather change the nearest week to much colder weather, there is no chance that the competition will be able to go ahead. The weather forecast for the next 10 days says mostly temperatures above 0 with both rain and sun. http://www.smhi.se/vadret/vadret-i-sverige/land/hourByHourTable.do?endtime=2014-12-23+22%3A59%3A00&starttime=2014-12-14+16%3A00%3A00&geonameid=2708426

DutchGrasstrack
Lineup for Hallstavik:Antonin Klatovsky (CZ)Max Niedermaier (DE)Hans Weber (DE)Markus Birn (CH)Rene Stellingwerf (NL)? (NL)Miroslaw Daniszewski (PL)? (RU)? (NO)? (AT)? (AT)? (FI) ? (FI)? (SE)? (SE)? (SE)---17. reserve 1 (SE)18. reserve 2 (SE) Dirk Werkman was supposed to ride for NL in Hallstavik but he broke his leg last weekend while practicing with the Dutch youth team (6 riders). Therefore Sven Holstein will go to Sweden (if it goes ahead). Edited December 23, 2014 by DutchGrasstrack
DutchGrasstrack
Little update: Sven Holstein will not race at all this season. Budget and time problems. Plus the fact that the KNMV did not enter a team in the Team Cup and also no start-places in the Euro's.
f-s-p
Seems odd that your list only has 1 SML rider, since we actually have 2 places for the quali. We have #12 and #16.
DutchGrasstrack
Good catch, fixed Any info on the riders?
f-s-p
With Aakko out its most likely Tani and Järf. I have a source saying Järf really wants it and is prepared and backed, the other one saying not prepared enough. We'll see. Tani's goal was to get in the series this year, he said himself it all came a year early last winter. EDIT: Actually I have a federation press release saying those are the two names for the quali. Tomi Norola was third in the training camp meeting, perhaps he's the next in line if there are drop outs. DutchGrasstrack
Winter hasn't realy arrived yet in middle Europe with both international meetings in Steingaden and Weissenbach cancelled. They hope to run Weissenbach on 17 or 18 january though.Swedish racing starts on sunday with the traditional Santa Cup including all the top Swedes but also Franky Zorn. iris123
Winter has arrived, just a bit too late.We had snow here yesterday and the cars are all frozen today.(-1° outside just now)......and it is even colder down south, but like i say........too late and it is getting warmer again in a few days time Quick look at Alpenpanorama just now and the temps in 4 places in Austria were -9,-10,-11 and -13,but in two the snow machine was busy making new snow Edited December 27, 2014 by iris123

f-s-p
Lineup for Hallstavik: Antonin Klatovsky (CZ) Max Niedermaier (DE) Hans Weber (DE) Markus Birn (CH) Rene Stellingwerf (NL) ? Therefore Sven Holstein will go to Sweden (if it goes ahead). A bit odd (and stupid and un-pro IMO) that the FIM has changed the draw for this meeting from the first one released. First time I've noticed such in the almost ten years I've followed. EDIT: My faith in the system has been restored, since the SR for the said meeting clearly states SML has numbers 12 and 16. So it's apparently a copypasted mistake from an interner source, Edited January 3, 2015 by f-s-p
