T.N.T.
The race format used in 2014 was too unbalanced in my opinion and there was too much emphasis and importance in the reserves. This format is more like the format used before but with a few changes to protect the #7 rider who is the NL draft rider Two Options of how a team lines up 1 - Riders line up in order of averages 2 - Top rider must be at #1 In both options, the strongest reserve must be at #6 Each reserve must take three programmed rides .... note programmed rides not rides HT 01 = 1c 5a v 1d 5bHT 02 = 6b 7d v 6a 7cHT 03 = 3c 4a v 3d 4bHT 04 = 2c 7a v 2d 7bHT 05 = 3b 4d v 1c 5aHT 06 = 1a 5c v 2b 6dHT 07 = 2b 6d v 3a 4cHT 08 = 5d 7b v 5c 7aHT 09 = 3d 4b v 2a 6cHT 10 = 1d 5b v 3c 4aHT 11 = 2a 6c v 1b 5dHT 12 = 3a 7c v 3b 7dHT 13 = 1b 2d v 1a 2cHT 14 = 4c 6a v 4d 6bHT 15 = B D V A C Obviously this shows the home team took gates 1+3 in heat one ..... to change to the other gates, simply swap A - B and C - D Edited October 24, 2014 by T.N.T. This season has seen the reserves dominate meetings and while it has been great strides forward by the likes of Blackbird, Newman, Garrity etc, had they of kept the old format I doubt we would have had such an unbalanced score chart with reserves out scoring regular heat leaders and hardly testing the top reserves. After the experience gained this season and ensuring all reserves are British riders, this gives a more realistic format and a step up in standard for these and the likes of Auty, Birks etc that can also be given chances in 2015

MattK
I do quite like that format. I agree with your assessment that the reserves are too protected and this format gives more balance.

noggin
Let's hope the powers that be learn of this and give it serious consideration Would be nice if they actually listended to their fans for a change, but unlikely as self interest and we know best mentality will surface. New Science
Would be nice if they actually listended to their fans for a change, but unlikely as self interest and we know best mentality will surface. How can any promoter have self interest when it comes to a race format ?
INCOGNITO
Certainly better than the format used this season which only helped those with more powerful reserves and second strings Ensuring both reserves are British means that a rider like Jason Garrity or Lewis Kerr can be tested better and not be the most important member of the team
