Tommy Sweetman
First impressions at Swindon didn't look good but got to give the lad a few meetings to get dialled in. You never know he could turn out to be the signing of the season! And he could turn out to be another Lukasz Sowka. Wont score as many as Woodward or probably Bridger, but has you say got to give him a chance.

Bee 26
Taken from CET Coventry's Polish newcomer Jakub Jamrog knows he faces a major challenge in the Elite League – but he is determined to take his chance at Brandon. Jamrog has been chosen by the Buildbase Bees to fill a position originally destined for experienced Australian Cameron Woodward, who is suffering from long-term injury, and then for enigmatic British rider Lewis Bridger, who parted ways with the club a fortnight ago. The new man lacks experience in the UK – in common with fellow countrymen who have signed for Leicester and Wolverhampton – but does come with a decent pedigree in his home country, and spent the first six weeks of the New Year racing in Argentina, where he won the nine-round International Championship. Jamrog said: “I hope the people of Coventry give me a chance to learn about English speedway - I’m not saying I will be the best this year, but I will always give it my all. I will always do everything I can to get better and better until I am scoring points everybody is happy with. “I’ve raced at Coventry before and I remember I had one very, very good heat which I won and I beat some good riders who know the Coventry track well. Polish ace Jakub Jamrog completes Coventry Bees line-up for 2015 season “I have got my very strong, Polish engine here and I have spoken to other riders and people since I have been in England about what to change to make me better on the English tracks. Speedway is my hobby, speedway is my job, speedway is my life and I want to be the best. “I’m looking forward to having a good year and I thank Coventry for giving me my first chance at racing in the UK.” Jamrog will be racing on a Coventry circuit prepared by previous curator Terry Chrabaszcz – whose departure on the eve of last season sparked a major controversy. Track issues dominated the early weeks of the campaign, although matters were stabilised when former Bees promoter Colin Pratt, in his role at the stadium, was brought in to oversee preparation. Now Bees have received permission to utilise the services of Chrabaszcz – known in the sport as ‘Terry The Track’ - for speedway events, with stadium staff still in charge of the circuit for their stock-car meetings. Coventry Storm have named Gloucestershire teenager Callum Walker as their official No.8 stand-by rider for the new National League season. Walker, who is also an accomplished grass and longtrack rider, is yet to appear in league racing but has achieved good results in the British Youth Championship.
JonHWeiner
My granddaughter dug out the programme for the 2013 Brandonapolis and found the heat which Jamrog won. The points for that heat (as listed in the programme) were ...... 2 0 1 3. Could this be an omen

bigcatdiary
Taken from cet: So did we really talk to JK??? So from that interview we're not expecting our asset Pawlicki to end up riding in the uk for Poole?! Coventry have completed their line-up by bringing in a newcomer to British speedway as Polish rider Jakub Jamrog takes the final spot. Buildbase Bees promoter Mick Horton admits the signing of the 23-year-old is something of a gamble as Jamrog is largely unknown in this country, save for some appearances in Open meetings, including the Brandonapolis in 2013. On that occasion he emerged unscathed from a spectacular crash but also clocked the fastest winning time of the night with a victory over established international riders Bjarne Pedersen, Krzystzof Kasprzak and Scott Nicholls. Horton says Bees have been through a number of options for the position originally vacated by Cameron Woodward due to injury and then Lewis Bridger after an apparent bust-up over equipment. Riders such as Przemyslaw Pawlicki, Mads Korneliussen, Joonas Kylmakorpi and Vaclav Milik have all been contacted and ruled out for various reasons. Horton said: Weve left no stone unturned over this last place, weve spoken to many riders who arent coming back or cant do it, and weve now got to the point where we had to make a decision. Ive talked to people who have ridden with Jamrog, including Hans Andersen, Danny King, and also Scott Nicholls mechanic who has seen him ride, and they have all said he goes well in Europe. I accept its a risk and it does leave us some way below the points limit (Jamrogs assessed average is 5.50, over a point below the maximum Bees could build to) but having done our research and looked into what the lads been doing, we feel its a good option. Ive spoken to him over the weekend and he is very keen and determined to do well in the UK. Hes also well set up with equipment over here and a workshop, mechanic and van so it wasnt a difficult deal from that point of view. Weve got to give him a chance, hes under no illusions that if things dont work out we will obviously look to change it, but Gary Havelock has a good feeling about him, and I hope everyone gets behind him. The one rider we could have got, who I would have gone with, was Kylamkorpi but he just priced himself out of it. "I like Jonas, but I honestly think he thought we were backed into a corner and he could name his price. He was asking for a better package than Hans, and that just wasnt going to happen. So to sum up no one that knows Horton wanted to ride for him so he has to take a chance on an new pole, surprised he has taken advice of a mechanic with his previous.

Woz01
I don't think we should expect too much early on especially away but a gradual improvement as the season goes on will be his aim. He certainly has pedigree averaging higher than Hans and Bomber in Poland.

You spend an awful lot of time on here making snide remarks about Mick Horton, but you never back it up. If you've got something to say, why don't you just say it?

Woz01
There is a big difference , BCD knows what actually goes on , turning a blind eye and pretending everything is rosy is what has got this sport in a mess But the post we are referring to was something he made up in his head just to get another dig in. It wasn't necessary at all. 15 riders signing for Horton this season shows his post was just for a dig and factually incorrect. Even Kylmakorpi said he would like like to ride for us this year on twitter. I don't why I came back on here after a 2 week break. If so it could be that Horton made contact with him after that and he set his own price and that's why Horton made a panics signing over the weekend as Jamrog was already over here.
