Jacques
Firstly it is impossible to keep fans informed if we wish to build another stadium by conducting private discussions with councils and landowners who are concerned about the backlash from local residents at any new site ahead of a detailed planning application. We need to have all the right information and studies ahead of such an application. I have walked, talked numerous sites which have failed the acid test at different stages and frankly would not have got as far as they did if we were doing it in public. I am currently looking at two good sites but I cannot say any more than that at this stage. When the time is right we will need the speedway and stock car community to support us but at this stage we need to work in private. That's what the fans wanted to know! As Trees say's Jeremy, that's all we wanted to know. I don't expect to be be given blow by blow accounts of the work going on behind the scenes, just that it actually is!! Thanks for taking the time to respond.
stevebrum
Sandhu's words in 2010 were "There will be houses... We'll do it the right way when we do build the houses, we'll have another stadium, there will be another track, I can assure you.. we'll find a site" And now, four years on, the only hope in that direction that Mick Horton can muster is to say on the radio that "Sandhu is quite interested in finding a new stadium" Sandhu as a businessman first will always do what makes him the most money. I personally believe his hot air approach has done a disservice to plenty of Coventry fans who believe(d) he was their savour.
Sir Jasper
So why has stock car track preparation taken precedence over a speedway meeting?
philfromcov
nice to hear that something is going on, unfortunately in a vacuum of information when many people are concerned it can quickly get out of hand! even a simple response is sufficient to show things are moving So why has stock car track preparation taken precedence over a speedway meeting? because it was in the fixture list before the re arrangement? with all the "cheap" postponements we have had this season, its no surprise we have run out of dates
heathen chemistry
So why has stock car track preparation taken precedence over a speedway meeting? cuz its a no brainer for the bosses , 5 or 10 times the attendance than speedway

Based upon the buisiness practices at Brum from each of those involved.............we have a long way to catch up and we going in the other direction

Studland Bee
Its good to see a post from Jeremy Heaver, perhaps Jeremy you could give the Coventry fans an update on whats happening ? The current speedway promotion are saying little on the future of the club and the situation at Brandon. I am very surprised that Mr Sandhu has not said more to reasure the fans, I respect the man, and all he has done for Coventry Speedway, but I think now the supporters deserve better to be honest. We have always supported him through difficult times which I would hope he will never forget. In my opinion planning permission for housing will not be granted. Why not talk to your supporter base across all motor sports ? There are so many options that could make this a fantastic venue once again for years to come, the site could easily have leisure facilities and host other sports and activities such as indoor ski dome, sky diving tunnel, and many other modern activities making it a premiere venue in the area. I may be wrong, but I suspect the local community and planning authority may well support this rather than more housing in an area where it is not welcome and not required.
TheSmiler
I can't attend Brandon as much as I want to due to working on race nights however when I have been free I have attended (including a few away). This team means everything to me. I have bled Coventry Bees since 2004 and I don't want it to end. Speedway is the only sport I follow and it is unfortunately going out of fashion unless a major uphall happens. I'm so gutted that this great Speedway venue will soon be a distant memory. I am heartbroken.
Trees
I would feel your pain if the same thing was happening at Lynn Adam! Hope it all turns out positive.
Studland Bee
So its 23:00 hours and the Stock Cars are still going strong! So much for the curfew that the speedway apparently has to adhere to...

Dave Jones
Mick had said between himself and the stadium owners there was confusion over the curfew. When is the AGM? So it was nothing to do with short changing the paying customers then? I have obviously misjudged him.

Thats is why we must not give up in fighting to keep Brandon and speedway in Coventry.

Thats is why we must not give up in fighting to keep Brandon and speedway in Coventry. It doesn't have to be in coventry as long as it's local .There are a lot of fans from the surrounding area as people from Cov as long as it is accessible as long as it's local it dosn't matter
