Coventry 2015

The last time he rode for us he used to struggle to get to Brandon for a 20:00 start time. He's got half an hour less now!

I'm told he has no bikes and no transport, so it'll be interesting to see how this pans out.

Presumably Korneliussen has already signed for Wolves as I can't imagine Bridger was first choice ahead of him.

Need to make sure he doesn't ride at 2 then!! ;)

From a neutral perspective I think this makes for a very strong 1-5. Shamek might have been a more prolific scorer but how many meetings would he do?

As has already been mentioned, equipment is the one question mark. He needs to have good kit to compete at EL level, as I am sure he knows.

Any kit would be a start :D

I pretty much expected it after his tweet about being available the other day and Havvy being TM..

I won't say I'm not happy, but I still remain to be convinced

I still welcome if it is true, prove to us what you can do Lewis!

If he rides Brandon as well as he rode Lakeside in the last half of the season you won't be disappointed. When he really hit form from around June onward there were no excessive wheelies, no leg hanging out, just head down, throttle wide open and getting on with the job. The downside was that he developed a tendency to ride into other riders, and certainly seemed to upset Kildemand and Nichollms in this way which was great for the home crowd, but he never seemed to work out that the blokes in claret and blue kevlars were his own team-mates and the general idea is that you don't take them out.

The unknown quantity wit Lewis is bikes. He was on the best machinery he ever had atLakeside and has now sold them so whether he still has enough money to get equivalent quali.ty bikes remains to be seen.

So all in all a much better signing than Woodward I would say but Lewis does seem to be a bit of a loner, and, not the best man for team spirit, but that said Cov are looking like very solid side all capable of doing a good job.

Not feeling as confident.

Bridgers heart wasn't in speedway and it showed. He had some really poor displays last year and spent a lot of time doing wheelies when didn't take the lead.

In my opinion he weakens the team and has the wrong attitude. Really hoping he proves me wrong.

BEES MOVE FOR BRIDGER

Friday January 30, 2015
bridger_lewis2.jpg GREAT Britain international Lewis Bridger is joining Coventry for the 2015 season – after previous signing Cameron Woodward’s hopes were shattered by injury.

Woodward received the devastating news from a surgeon in Brisbane that the broken femur he suffered in a crash last September has not healed, and he will be out of action until at least the middle of the year with a bone graft required - meaning the Buildbase Bees had to go back into the rider market.

Bridger, 25, has already won an Elite League title with Coventry, having joined the club partway through the 2010 season and then been part of the team which pulled off an incredible Grand Final win against Poole.

He then returned to parent club Eastbourne and has spent the last two seasons with Lakeside – but he appeared set to take a year out of the sport before the dramatic change of plan.

He averaged 6.72 with the Hammers last season meaning he will slot into the Bees’ line-up as a second-string, fractionally below fellow newcomer Danny King.

And Bridger’s arrival means the Buildbase Bees will boast six British riders out of seven this season, with No.1 Hans Andersen (Denmark) the only exception.

Promoter Mick Horton said: “I don’t think we saw the best of Lewis last season but he still achieved a 6.72 average, and looking at the stats most of that was achieved as a heat-leader.

“Everyone knows Lewis has an abundance of talent, and I believe he’s in a stronger team this year. With him riding at No.4 I think it makes us at least equally as strong as we were before we lost Cam.

“Lewis had another offer, but he was desperate to ride for us, he’s spoken to myself and Havvy (Gary Havelock) at length and he’s convinced us that this is the fresh start his career needs.

“Having six British riders is fantastic, we’re going to have a great team spirit again and I’m really optimistic about the season.”

On Woodward, who now requires a bone graft, Horton added: “Cameron is one of the gentlemen of the sport, and I have so much respect for him.

“He rang me and was absolutely gutted that he was letting myself, the club and the fans down, but I said he just has to get himself fit and who’s to say we can’t talk again when it comes to 2016 – it’s such a shame for him because he’s one of the nice guys of speedway.”

BUILDBASE BEES 2015: Chris Harris ©, Hans Andersen, Danny King, Lewis Bridger, Stuart Robson, Jason Garrity, James Sarjeant.

He also had some excellent displays which 6-7 point riders tend to have. He had issues privately which meant he didn't enjoy riding if you read his twitter over the last few days. He says he has now sorted that so let's see what he can do with a hopefully clear mind.

Lets hope Havvy can point Bridger in the right direction, in which case he could be a good signing am certainly not writing him off.. Its the same old story the team have the ability to do well but only if they ALL click together....

Bridger has always had issues outside of speedway as far as I can see. Not expecting any changes in 2015 to be honest.

He still has the potential of being a god EL rider, if he can only keep his mind on the sport and put his personal life on a back burner if any more problems arise.

We all have problems in our lives at one stage or another, but that is life, we just have to make the most of what we have got and get all the help from freinds to keep us sane.

Hope as he says that he now has his life outside of the sport sorted out, if so he will be one rider that will be hard to beat.

I can't deny that to be honest but he's has had help over the winter. The fact other clubs were interested shows his value on the average he achieved despite all that and riding as a heat leader half the season. Could go wrong but with who is in our team I think he will fit in well. It will also help him him and King alternating at 3 and 4.

Bridgers heart wasn't in it but he averaged more than Woodward so what does that tell you about each of their potential?

Lewis is a superior rider to Cam.

Lewis Bridger can be a match winner or a liability but I think you will find he will be going all out for the points and unless he has a bad start with falls or engine performance then you will have a great signing.

All those that question his inclusion in the team. Let's see how many are demanding he is in the Team GB line up come June.

Coventry Belle Vue and possibly Poole will be the three strongest line ups and play offs should be easily achievable
