jrs
Doubt they'll be a bees 2015 the way things are going!I must admit I've sadly been thinking along the same lines, apart from the disastrous track conditions on many occasions that have depressed so many supporters this season, I've yet to hear or read any real commitment from Messrs Horton and Watson about the future. Apologies if I've missed anything but in the past Neil has frequently used this forum to let the fans know what their plans are.
philfromcov
i year down 2 to go whichever way you look at it, even if there is commitment for a new venue, we are already looking at least one year out of the sport, 12 months nothings happened

heathen chemistry
think sandhu wants rid of speedway at brandon stocks are taking priority over speedway the track guy sandhu employed was not a track guy he turned out to be a taxi driver, did sandhu already know this? second halfs cancelled due to time needed to get track ready for stocks and now a meeting cancelled for same reason are we to believe that if sandhu did find land for a stadium he would also want speedway there? Popular Post Jacques
I wouldn't like to bet on it. If they keep producing tracks like they have done lately hardly any fans will be left. I agree Perhaps that's what the plan is. It certainly feels like it. I'd like to say to Sandhu. You spoke to us in the bar at Brandon at the beginning of the winter of discontent. You said, without doubt, that your ultimate intention was to build houses on the Brandon site, But, you also effectively promised us, that a new track on a smaller site, would be there to replace it. Having experienced you and your regime during that period. I had no reason to doubt you. Why would I. It was fantastic. Trophies won on track and in one of the best facilities this country has to offer. You had advocates galore at the same time the main sponsor, who is still there has said on more than one occasion, that you are man of honour? So, you get fed up, with Speedway. I don't blame you. You sell the club ( apparently) to Mick Horton. Why are you still showing as the owner? We got right up there as team, in to the play off final this year. That gave us lots to shout about. You love sport don't you? Then we're hit with the news that you've taken on a company to provide outline plans for the development of Brandon. The spiritual home of Coventry Bees. Of course, you are perfectly within your rights to do this. What came as a shock, is the lack of communication. We had no idea it was coming.. So, me and many others are thinking...WHAT? The man of honour has told us nothing, the locals have just had a slip through the door telling them what your plans are. Is there any real intention to find the Bees a new home? Why won't you talk to us. Open and honest dialogue, is so much better than secrecy that results in rumours and lies, is it not? Me personally. I have no agenda, I would just like to know where we stand and have some idea what's going to happen to my beloved club. speedybee
Sandhu's words in 2010 were "There will be houses... We'll do it the right way when we do build the houses, we'll have another stadium, there will be another track, I can assure you.. we'll find a site" And now, four years on, the only hope in that direction that Mick Horton can muster is to say on the radio that "Sandhu is quite interested in finding a new stadium" I hear that Dave Rowe has been pushing Jeremy Heaver for an interview. If that happens, let's hope there's a little more than just hollow words. It seems obvious to me that the silence is due to a lack of any progress in finding a site, so no wonder that no one is saying anything. Given that there has been no sighting of any architects plans or specs (maybe Belle Vue could give them a few tips;) one has wonder now whether the whole idea is a dead duck. Sue Scott Firstly it is impossible to keep fans informed if we wish to build another stadium by conducting private discussions with councils and landowners who are concerned about the backlash from local residents at any new site ahead of a detailed planning application. We need to have all the right information and studies ahead of such an application. I have walked, talked numerous sites which have failed the acid test at different stages and frankly would not have got as far as they did if we were doing it in public. I am currently looking at two good sites but I cannot say any more than that at this stage. When the time is right we will need the speedway and stock car community to support us but at this stage we need to work in private.

jeremy heaver
Speedway at Coventry is finished I don't think they are likely to run in 2015 in any capacity. I forgot how childish this forum is and is a really bad advert for any investor, team owner or stadium landlord to read as they would never invest and Poole would have difficulties due to falling interest. They need no the EL need a strong Coventry if it is to pay the bills and keep the Sky contract. i can't see anybody who has invested close to £500k into racing at Coventry simply walk away and give up but then the sport is living way beyond its income and the fans still expect more money to be spent from club owners. No wonder promoters twist rules, cheat, tell lies and manipulate the system for commercial gain. Poole are masters of the rule book and Coventry get more fines than any club in the league as they are the greatest threat and perhaps that's the reason for your comment.

I think we are all worried that no one is actually trying to find a new site and no news will always give the impression of that. As you can imagine, with all the talk of Brandon Stadium being demolished but silence over if any progress is being made with regard to the future of Coventry Speedway, fans will be worried. Coventry bees are one of the most successful speedway clubs there are and as we have seen with crowds this year and the campaign, they are still well supported. This site is not a true reflection of the following of the sport, I would hope any potential promoters or owners looking to invest in speedway would go and watch it at the stadium rather than take the posts on here seriously. I understand that information about where you are looking at can't be revealed until appropriate, I think fans just needed to know if still looking. Thanks and good luck Been a brilliant year for Coventry Bees and Storm and I look forward to 2015.

Thanks and good luck Been a brilliant year for Coventry Bees and Storm and I look forward to 2015. We have a stock car forum which has 30 or so posters but is read by tens of thousands. The thirty or so that post half are reflective of the fan base whilst the other half self promote as having all the arnswers to the problems that only they see as problems. This speedway forum has more posters but they all have inside information, know a secret when in reality almost none do. Both forums are read by potential sponsors, media, potential investors and regulatory bodies. So whilst I know 90% is hot air those don't and it cost me a large sponsor via the stox forum a couple of years ago based upon views expressed out of somebodies imagination. Forums can be a force for good but they also grow serial posters who want the limelight yet they have little real knowledge so post things for attention rather than to add a positive outlook on the sport. Anyway that's me done for a while back into the shadows.
