kingbee
Yes mentioned above. No harris or Doyle on 15th as riding in Rory's testimonial. Disappointed we have decided to stage the 2nd leg the same day as Rico's meeting. No other teams racing. What if harris etc want to race in that. Poor planning just for a challenge meeting. just get over it and move on Harris and Doyle cancel themselves out actually we are better of Imo it's only a challenge anyway
flagrag
Don't panic common sense has prevailed over the East Midlands fixtures as all fans want to see all of their team riding especially at the start of the season. Woz01
Coventry will be doing a collection for RICO at the meeting on the 20th. Fans who could not get to Lakeside can now still contribute at Brandon.
Brandon
A well worded statement on the Bees website http://www.coventrybees.co/news.php?extend.3009
Steve0
A well worded statement on the Bees website http://www.coventrybees.co/news.php?extend.3009 And I hope people support the Rico meeting by going to Lakeside and showing your promoters what you think of their disrespect over a loyal rider who ultimately gave his life for the sport we all love! Disgusting response by the Coventry promotion!

Disgusting response by the Coventry promotion! Realistically how many Coventry or Liecester fans would attend the Rico meeting? I would like to think the memorial fund would get more money from the collection at Brandon than the handful of Bees/Lions fans who would go to Lakeside.

Disgusting response by the Coventry promotion!Have you read the statement? They are holding a collection for him in which many can now contribute too when they originally didn't have the chance too. The reason why the meeting has to be run on this date is understandable as it's the only Friday available before League action begins. I actually raised the issue on the Facebook page as I wasn't happy about running at the same time but the statement explains why very well plus I can now put some money towards the fund. If not you can always come to Brandon on the night and donate to the cause as many of us will .... Cheers

G the Bee
No problem with the Bees statement at all. TBF, there was no way I was going to be able to get up to Lakeside on that Friday
SCB
Meetings have clashed since time began. I don't see why all the fuss.
Woz01
My issue was he was a Bees rider and it seemed crass that they arranged a meeting on the same day as his memorial meeting. The statement explained the reasons and I'm happy with that, the fact all bees fans can donate is a big plus.
deanr1
Just the typical social media bandwagon that we always seem to see these days... As others have mentioned not many Coventry or Leicester fans would be travelling all that way to Rico's meeting in any case, and many more fans will be able to donate to his collection at these 2 meetings who otherwise wouldn't have.
Paddy The Rebel
I think its a disgrace that there's a meaningless challenge on the same day where you are paying tribute to an all time british legend.no other team who rides Fridays is running so why coventry??? VERY POOR!!!

VERY POOR!!! Maybe because Coventry's race night is a Friday? It's the only one available before the league season starts. If we lost our first two matches at home fans will be asking 'why didn't we arrange a challenge match at the start of the season'. Now there is a collection every Bees fan has a chance to contribute where as before only a few would've had the chance.
Agrotron
I cannot understand what all the fuss is about people will choose what meeting they want to attend and there will be a collection at Brandon what more do you want, The way some people carry on we may as well have a day for every British Speedway rider that has died.
Woz01
What I don't get its the constant moaning we get when a meeting is arranged on the same day as a testimonial. The sport shouldn't stop for anyone.
TitusTokio
Bad planning and bad PR to have this pre-season meeting arranged on same day as Rico's meeting but if they're holding a collection then that's absolutely fine by me, then people can choose which meeting they wish to go to and still support Lee. Clashing with Rory Schlein's testimonial, however, doesn't bother me in the slightest. Get over it.
CB252
Terrific statement by the Bees, but one that didn't need to be made since the sane few amongst us knew that no disrespect was intended by organising a meeting on the same day as the meeting at Lakeside. So indicative of the way life is at the moment that people have to take the moral high ground and be so shocked and appalled by trivial things. The nutters watching this sport are worse than those running it 99% of the time!
