Coventry 2015

Dcent article / inteview with Bomber on thr sgp site, talking about getting Chris Andersen back as his mechanic and Brian "Axeman" Andersen back to do his engines, I know they started talking last year, could they have contributed to his form at the tail end of last year?

wont make a lot of difference he will still be at the bottom of GP standings

Probably over the limit but I would like

AJ

Howarth

Pawlicki

Garrity

Harris

Jacobs

Sarjeant

If as GRW123 suggests that Kingbee's team above is likely to be over the EL team limit, then I despair... :nono:

No offence to Sarjeant, Jacobs, Garrity and Howarth (well done Kyle of late), but whoever the other 3 riders are that is no way an EL team..

Should the FTD continue, it must remain at reserve riders only and hopefully include the likes of Birks and Roynon etc :t:

Here I go - no doubt seen as another pathetic post from me - but where coventry need to be in 2015 as far I am concerned.

Harris

Howarth

Garrity

amazing trio - would love the future world champion Kyle Newman ( an amazing talent and just you wait 5 years after which you can ridicule me galore ) but am confident for the kid.

max Fricke

Fast track reserves. olly greenwood and james Sargeant

And finally the big one - Mr Tai Woffinden - Needs the amazing coventry support to give him the confidence to progress and become world champ again in 2015.

Could become one of the Coventry all time greats.

Ok - probably seen as a reckless post by many, but if Tai is going to race in GB in 2015, where else would he be hero worshipped !

british speedway needs Tai - more than Tai needs British speedway - gone too stale at Wolverhampton.

Come on - make it happen !!!!

Happy days (potentially)

I will have whatever you're having.

Woffinden has hardly gone stale at Wolves, he was still in with a shout of the World title right down to the final round. :icon_smile_clown:

He has little interest in the extended EL, that's the only thing he has gone stale on.

Still, its good to dream. :t:

I wouldn't be so sure of that now he has a professional group with him in the pits. Not saying he will make top 8 but with them behind him he will improve and hopefully the Bees will benefit.

There wasn't a lot wrong with this years team, I would hope to see some fine tuning rather than wholesale changes.

We had the same problem from start to finish really which was only briefly addressed while MJJ was with us and that was the number 3 & 4 positions. We spent most of the season without a capable third heat leader, and Hansen was probably worse at number 4 than anyone would have predicted.

I would like to see Garrity back, I'm not sure it will happen though. I think we will struggle to sign riders on a permanent basis with all the uncertainty around the club and I think we will see a similar team to this year and use of our own assets wherever possible.

The third heat leader position is key and probably the trickiest to resolve with the low points limit we have these days. We have plenty of possibilities for a number 4 as riders like Barker & Fisher would do ok in that role, the problems have come about when expecting them to ride as EL heat leaders which they are not. Put them in the right team position and they will do their job. Fricke or Garrity would also be a good shout but I'm not sure they are likely.

Here are my thoughts for the 2015 Bees: Something like...

1. Andersen

2. Howarth

3. Danny King maybe? Mads K? Needs to be a proven heatleader.

4. Fricke, Barker, Fisher, Garrity, Summers? Take your pick, it could be any of them but more likely one of them that is our asset.

5. Harris

6. Sarjeant

7. Greenwood or Nielsen

Get that middle order right and we will have a competitive side again.

If you fancy hearing and indeed asking Mick Horton what his thoughts are for next year and beyond he is at the NSSC on Tuesday night.

Everybody is welcome, £3 charge for non-members. All monies raised are used to support young British riders.

Is anyone able to give any feedback following this event please?

Pretty much agree with all of this.

My only concern is the way Hans Andersen's scoring dropped off so badly in the final part of the season. When he needed to step up and beat the opposition's big hitters, he was found wanting too often. In fact, he was dire in every one of our play off meetings. It's a real shame, because I like Hans but, the fact is, he is a shadow of the rider he once was. He's a rider who relies on scoring his points with his gating but seems to have forgotten how to gate.

If Jonsson wants to come back then, even accounting for the fact that his average is high and may actually drop if the race format is not changed, we should make a move for him. You do not win titles without an out and out number 1. Andersen has shown that he is not at that level any more and we certainly do not want to go down the road of putting Bomber in that position. We've tried that too many times before and it has never worked out.

Start with Jonsson (if possible), Harris and Howarth, and build from there.

I find with Hans his scores seem to tale off the end of the season if he hasnt been paid. Wonder if this is the case here ?

I'm sure if Hans hadn't been paid we would hear about it. He's not exactly the sort of person to keep things like that quiet.

Is anyone able to give any feedback following this event please?

You'll be lucky. I think everyone who attends has to sign a declaration of secrecy and not allowed to repeat anything that's said in the room :D

Sums up British Speedway in general I think, and the" powers that be" complain about all the internet speculation.

Evasive and vague were two words I heard used afterwards, so nothing new there. If anything of great import had been said, I think the word would have got around by now. Perhaps more use to hear his comments at the end of Tapes Up BBC C&W from Monday, when he also said very little of any importance. the main points, for what they were worth : "Mr Sandhu is quite keen to look for a new stadium, but this is all just rumours..and we can't rely on rumours.. we have to look at our options and I have opened talks with Rugby and Coventry councils.. I think we'll be at Brandon for more than 2 years, it will be a long, drawn out process... the most important thing is that Coventry are still racing.. I would like to think that there is a commitment from the council that will point us in the right direction."

I tweeted a question and I got a response so obviously social media doesnt count!

chris Anderson was his manager a few seasons back Bomber sacked him

Why your point? People get re hired all the time, Bomber has already said he listened to the wrong people and that it was mistake to let him go.

Regarding the NSSC meeting and comments made by Maneacat and Gemini there is no set code of secrecy. Our aim as a club is to raise funds to support young British riders. These funds are raised from guest evenings and quizzes. The guests we have, wether they are riders, referees or promoters, give up their own time and usually at their own cost to talk to those attending as openly as they like about the sport.

It is only polite to respect their openess and not transcribe everything that was said on here. If we did it would be harder to get guests and no point in fans attending, which is the whole point. Besides, anybody is welcome to attend, it isn't a closed shop. The more the merrier and the more funds we can generate.

The meeting itself was attended by about 45 people and pretty much every subject was covered. As somebody else surmised there was nothing said that is not already known but it was good of Mick to give up his evening and face some quite aggressive questioning at times.

Our next event is a, "Speedway Question Time". Tuesday 25th November 8pm. David Rowe will take the role of David Dimbleby. We already have Adam Roynon, Rory Schlein and Simon Stead confirmed along with Rob Lyon and possibly Buster Chapman and either or both Tony Steele and/or Jim Lawrence. We hope this generates a lot of interest and offer FREE ENTRY to everybody. There will be a raffle and donations welcomed to support young British riders.

Our popular Christmas quiz will take place on Tuesday 9th December 8pm. Details to follow.

I wouldn't like to bet on it. If they keep producing tracks like they have done lately hardly any fans will be left.
