Beowulf
Everyone seems to be looking for new homes apart from us, yet we have one year left!! Even as a Wolves fan (long time), I have to say that it will be sad to lose Brandon. I think that I am right in saying that they are the only remaining club that have raced at the same stadium, in the same league continuously since 1965.
beesboybert
Agree. Bjarne Pedersen would not strengthen the team at all, home or away. He's been shocking and does missing against Poole If we could fit him in for Robbo he strengthens us up no end. He gets a bit of stick, but thats mainly due to the expectations we have as him as a heatleader. As a second string he'd be a great signing

If Bjarne ends up heat leader then you get Hans, Danny or Joonas as 2nd string. We will basically have 5 heat leaders in the top 5. Don't think it will happen though, I'm not sure he wants to ride over here. Michelsen looked good in Sweden last night and he fits too. I think the point is, there are plenty of high 5 to mid-6 pointers out there. If our management really want to, they can sign one on August 28th (I think thats the last day for changes) so that Robbo gets as long as possible in the team, keeps costs down as long as possible but we're then ready for the play-offs that start 2-3 weeks later. The changes would then be for the last 2 EL meetings and the play-offs.

dj350z
Well if we don't it will say a lot about our promotion and their ambition, or total lack of it. Very easy to say when you are stood on the terraces and haven't got to come up with the money to finance the change!
SCB
Very easy to say when you are stood on the terraces and haven't got to come up with the money to finance the change! if the club cannot afford a 6 point man for 6 meetings - 2 of them being bumper play-off pay days. Then I'd say the club is screwed! With Lakesides season over on August 31st (last meeting at Brandon) it might even be possible to get one of Lawson or Bech - hardly going to cost the Earth as they're already based here. Anyone would think we are trying to Tempt Greg or Emil back not a second string.
naffer
That would seem a very sensible move late on robbo gets a full season more or less and we get a Boost for the play offs. I like Michelsen who is flying in Sweden at the moment but Bech would be equally good and would form a great opening pair with bomber. Woz01
Superb bit of news, I suggested it earlier in the thread. Wasps will build a new training complex in the City in the next few years it would be interesting if it can incorporate a track for us on the site. It would give them that bit of extra revenue. Just at a promotion level it's a good bit of business, Wasps are excellent at it. Edited July 16, 2015 by woz01
philfromcov
perhaps they will buy a complex with a track already around it? just a thought!

Jacques
I had thoughts about it yesterday, wouldn't it be great to join forces and have a multipsort venue? ... Probably a total pipe dream but it's great to have them on board anyway

Probably a total pipe dream but it's great to have them on board anyway These days single use stadiums don't work. The cost of land means you need to have the stadium working as many days of the week as possible. If we could get some sort of tie in stadium with Wasps it'd be brilliant - probably suit then as "we" would cover some of the costs - either upfront as co-owners or over time as tenants paying rent. If e can get in at the start it can be built to suit rather than shoe-horned in later is as generally the case.

Brandon is synonymous with Speedway, but in reality do they really have enough through the door on a normal race night to make is sustainable? Crowd levels aren't getting any better, is it right to expect it to limp along as it does, it's a great stadium, but it's in dire need of repair even with the stock car crowds I can't see how it's viable? I don't want to lose Brandon, but I want to lose my Speedway club even less! A coalition with the Wasps, with expert promotion, who knows!
