Your Team's Best Team

Recommended Posts

Depends if it's Silver at his peak or after his comeback. Gutted we didn't get a second season of watching Andrew when he made his comeback.

Honourable mention should go to Stefan Ekberg, his signing in 2007 was the one that ensured we won the title that year IMO.

Silver from the early to mid 80's. I caught the end of his last year at Rye House before he went to Arena Essex. Great talent.

Could also make a case for Bob Garrad, Kelvin Mullarkey, Marvin Cox and Karl Fiala for inclusion in the best ever Rockets side

Kevin Smith and Ashley Pullen went on to have good careers too I believe.

1. Hans Nielsen

2. Marvyn Cox

3. Simon Wigg

4. Ron How

5. Leigh Adams

6. Arne Pander (rode at that position quite a lot between '65 and '68... before it became a reserve position).

7. Martin Dugard

Couldn't fit in Jason Crump, Greg Hancock, Nicki Pedersen, Billy Hamill or Tony Rickardsson.

All the best

Rob

Nice team but I would switch Kerr, Blackburn and Tom Owen for Nicki P, Rod Hunter and Kenni L. Sadly no place in my team for Robbie Foy!!!!!

No room for Jens Rasmussen, who basically carried the team single handed before Martin Goodwin arrived from Arena Essex

My goodness it just doesn't look like a Rye team without Luke Bowen at 6!

Seriously, take out Robson for Ted Hubbard and King for Marvyn Cox and this is about right.

Robson is one of the first names on that team sheet surely. I never saw Hubbard or Cox so couldn't comment on them but I'd have Robson in over King, Sundstrom, Kennett and Roynon certainly if we're going on what they did while in a Rye race jacket.

Totally respect your opinion, but for me, Hubbard was Mr Rye House when he was number 1 in the late 70's, and would be a must. Cox was, to put it quite simply, considerably better than King (particularly looking at '83), and, in fact, in that '83 season was probably among the very best Rockets ever. Can't ever remember Robson at 7, but I totally agree you could easily make an argument for him over King, Sundstrom or Kennett.

1 Ronnie Moore

2 Kelvin Tatum (1984)

3 Wilbur Lameroux (1938)

4 Tommy Jansson (1972)

5 Trevor Hedge (1970's)

6 Barry Briggs (1953)

7 Todd Wiltshire (1988)

Not a bad line-up for the Dons...

I only started going to Rye in 2004 so can only really pick riders i've seen.

Belle Vue since I started actively following the sport in the early 80s.

1. Jason Crump (if the opposition includes capable opponents who'll create a worthwhile race)

2. Kelly Moran

3. Chris Morton

4. Shawn Moran

5. Peter Collins

6. Jason Lyons

7. Joe Screen

Narrowly squeezed out were Andy Smith, Carl Blackbird (1986), Kaj Laukkanen (the all action 1999 version of him) and Neil Collins. All riders who've been worth the entry money on their own at times.
