SCB
From a mischievous point of view, I would love it if Matt Ford were to be voted in as Vice Chair again - if only to watch this forum go into meltdown !!! it won't be Matt but someone not a million miles away, surely? moxey63
Just heard.. efforts to persuade those poor exhausted star names back to British racing, all tracks to have beds made up in available pit space and bikes cannot be warmed up, started during rest moments. Â Already clubs planning to open their 2015 season with challenge matches to raise cash for new beds. Â And a certain southern promoter has revealed, in a ruthless bid to cut out the use of guests, that rule will now be known as having a sleepover. cowboy cookie returns?
I wonder who will step into Jon Cook's BSPA shoes?? Will they go for someone with a bit of experience, someone who has served before or someone newish?? Its going to be guest vice chairman next season unless someone complains then it will have to be vice chairman replacement!
weatherwatcher
They will replace Cooke with someone who they can tell what they want doing. Not someone who has any brilliant idea's to turn the sport around, because they just don't want to kanow if it upsets their apple cart. It's just to keep things under control, the lead meetings. They don't have any more say in how things are run than anyone else.
Trees
That's right SCB, but surely in this sort of organisation the chairman can put a proposal forward as well as all the members .....

Plus trying to dodge paying for a train journey from Rugby quite recently and being spotted by the ticket inspector, who happens to be a speedway supporter.(Allegedly)

E I Addio
That's right SCB, but surely in this sort of organisation the chairman can put a proposal forward as well as all the members ..... Â Â He can but SCB was simply pointing out the stupidity of Weatherwatchers daft post. They can all put forward their ideas which get hammered out at the AGM. The Vice -Chairman (which is what Cooke was, not Chairman) has little if any infuence over the collective decisions of the BSPA as a whole. Its pretty well known anyway that there pre-AGM meetings ahead of the actual AGM when agenda's get worked out.
SteveLyric2
The Vice Chair DOES have a bit more influence as he is voted on to the Management Committee (BSPA MC) - which can make/overrule decisions during the season..

Yes, but these MC members also have a (sometimes unilateral) say in things during the season without recourse to full meetings. Changing average rules to suit their own teams as a for instance (I don't mean Cooke here, it's just an example of what's been done on behalf of the MC in the past). barrow boy
Its pretty well known anyway that there pre-AGM meetings ahead of the actual AGM when agenda's get worked out. Yes there is always a pre AGM meeting to determine the agenda but don't forget the Peterborough/Coventry incident a few years back when they believed the Premier to Elite conversion rate was remaining at the agreed 50% only to find out at the AGM that certain promoters/team managers wanted to change it to 70%. This being after they had signed the top 2 BPL riders on 50% of their BPL averages. So it would appear that despite having agreed the agenda at a pre AGM meeting something came up that was not known to all clubs beforehand. uk_martin
Correct! As I said King Smug took a gamble on my train at Rugby!  What a shame that Bet365 didn't have a live stream on that gamble. That video clip would be priceless.
