Bryn
Unfair riding only relates to an opponent. There was an issue at Eastbourne earlier in the year when Iversen wiped out Schlein, but as the rule only relates to an opposition, it was Schlein who got excluded. So it was Fricke who ought to have been excluded. A tough entrance to EL Play-Offs! Of course if it was going to get awarded anyway, it didn't really matter who finished third, but whilst Fricke was never going to hunt them down, Harris very well could have. Congrats to Poole. Best team in the league, in my opinion, and deserving winners. Even when it looked like they were up against it, they were always able to find that extra gear. Janowski and Newman have both been remarkable for them in the 2nd half of the season. Huge years for both riders. What's the chances in neither of them riding for Poole next season? Fair point regarding unfair riding but it might well be that the ref decided under 15.5.1 that Bomber was the primary cause of the stoppage and disqualified him for that reason (I haven't seen the ref's programme - have you?) and used his discretion under 15.5.2 in awarding the race and Fricke a point. Not that any of that made any overall difference to the ultimate outcome
speedybee
Congrats Poole. A great season to be supporting the Bees. Shame we fell at the last hurdle.
Jacques
To be honest the meetings he guested for Poole he rode really well. Well done Poole. An excellent meeting with two teams giving their all. Coventry only really lost it towards the end of the meeting. Magic was magic and I was so pleased to see Kyle come on so much as a rider. What the sport has got in store next season, what leagues there will be and how strong those leagues will be we must wait and see. Thanks to all riders for entertains us this season doing things that we do in our dreams but could never actually do if we were on the track. On a personal basis I now want to wish the Somerset Rebels all the best for the PL final and hope that title returns to the Oak Tree Arena. You deserve your night! That the nastiness, the arguments, the bitching on this thread, didn't involve me or any Bees fans by the way
mikebv
well done Poole... however due to the farce of a season, sadly hardly anyone will care.... after batch helped you qualify for the play offs last year, great to see the Swindon rider pick up a winners medal this... weatherwatcher
Well done to Poole. A true master class in of team riding by the 2 young Polish riders, that went a long way to winning the meeting for them. A pleasure to watch.
Gavan
Well the worst season in living memory for elite league speedway ends all to predictably with the Poole 'sky sports' Pirates as champions. They have been the best team this season and have actually been better without Ward. Still I want let down by the Middlo buffoon claiming Hans turned left. Least he has been consistent in talking cramp all year. Just read through the last 12 or so pages of this thread and would like to congratulate the true Poole fans on here but the comments of speedwayfun are just so pathetic it's unreal and Gater you are not a Swindon fan because if you are you would not write the drivel you have on here unless you are KKS. So despite Poole still having the majority of village idiots as some fans I would like to say congrats to foreverblue, Dorsetdèlight and Skidder
Mr Blobby
Good to see Fricke with a proper Coventry team suit Hans Andersons spare one he was wearing Edited October 20, 2014 by Mr Blobby
pirateandi
Poole fans showing their class again by cheering loudly when a Coventry rider fell. The moment he fell, they didn't wait to check if he got up ok. Classy.... A bit like all the cov fans when holder smashed into the fence at Coventry in the 2010 semi final !! Touch'e brother !! 😵
Tom Turner
The constant attacks against Poole from the likes of stevebrum, Gavan, The Doctor and a select few others who believe that every issue in speedway is directly attributable to Matt Ford have made this victory a whole lot sweeter! Thank you guys sincerely as I wouldn't of enjoyed tonight nearly as much if I didn't know how unhappy this result would make you all! That goes for all the Poole haters. Just a little advice for you all, the Poole lot are actually really great people. We aren't evil, we love the sport just as much as you do, and more often than not we agree with you on some of the things you find unfair. The problem is you are obsessed. You think Poole is an evil club with evil supporters who live only to damage the sport and win at any cost. I won't pretend Matt Ford is perfect, and I have disagreed with his actions in the past, but if more promoters were like Matt we'd have a much better sport all round. You force Poole fans into a corner, and you attack them until they agree with you or abandon the forum. It's not cool, it's not fair and it's not very becoming. Roll on 2015.

Star Lady
Ref's decision to award Heat 3 was correct in accordance with rules 15.5.2 and 15.5.3 as race leader Janowski had completed two laps prior to the race being stopped and Harris being disqualified for unfair riding. The incident took place on lap 2, therefore it could be argued that the ref was slow to stop the race. It may well have been within the letter of the law, but it certainly wasn't in the spirit of sport. Anything could have happened in the 2 and a bit laps remaining on a track that was tricky to ride. Just my opinion.
foreverblue
What a night that was, meeting had everything, good racing, plenty of passing and Janowski, what a truly terrific rider he is, great gater and pulled off some terrific passes last night.Newman also showed what he has ridden like all season, got be a must for next year. Bit worried at the start but once we got in front there was no stopping us. I think swindon would have given us more to worry about but troy and morris not that good tonight so maybe not. I said yesterday that Hans needs to show us the hans we used to know for coventry to have a chance and he couldnt. Fricke coming in for barker was a surprise but didnt work, dont know what was meant to be wrong with barker. A hugely enjoyable evening all round.
Pirate Baz
Got to congratulate the Pirates on coming through after a tough season, for various much publicised and debated reasons. Great support last night from the Coventry fans last night which helped to create atmosphere. Their youngsters did a great job on the track, slightly let down by the more experienced guys. Not a great decision (with hindsight I accept) to give Max Fricke his Poole debut in an EL Final. Barker looked fine in the bar last night and I'm sure he would have put up more of a fight had he been riding. Also not forgetting the Stars who also suffered some bad injury problems right at the wrong time. The two semi final meetings, both strongly weather affected as has also been discussed and debated, could have gone either way and it could easily have been them celebrating today. Now we all move on the our regular period of Winter debate on next year, and see what comes out of the Promoters Conference on 14th/15th and 16th December. I wait with trepidation. Personally I think it was a good decision, and one which showed some 'bottle' from the referee. With less than two laps remaining when the red lights came on it would have been unfair to give Fricke a second chance from the gate as he was patently 'going backwards' at the time of the incident. Harris surely had to be the one excluded for being the primary cause of the stoppage. We suffered a similar incident at Wolverhampton two or three seasons ago (probably four or five with my memory) when the two Wolves came together on the third lap while Pirates were on a 5-1 and the referee stopped the race as our guys we crossing the line for the final lap' and he ordered a rerun. No need to tell you what the remaining Wolves rider did in the rerun. We sit in front of the referees box at Poole and so get a similar view, and Mick Bates got some 'stick' last night over some of the starts, but having watched the Sky recording most of them were not as bad as they appeared to my (biased) eyes on the night. In general I thought the referee had a pretty good meeting.
g13webb
To all the decent Poole Fans out there, I want to congratulate you for winning the championship. ( Mind you there are some I wouldn't give the time of day). We could always offer our injury list as an excuse for the Stars not winning, but that would only hide the truth, that as the season went on the Pirates became stronger. Even had we still ben at full strength we would have struggled to contain Poole last night. Pawlicki, Milik and Newman could all lay claims for the most improved rider, but without doubt Magic has been truly outstanding. I don't usually suffer jealousy but in Magic case, I will always wish he remained a Stars rider.........
PHILIPRISING
AS a neutral armchair viewer last night, thoroughly enjoyed the meeting which came over well on TV with thankfully the cameras showing a tightly knit crowd rather than the sparse attendances we see too often. And despite all the guests it was Poole's own riders, led magnificently by Maciej Janowski, who won them the title on the day. Greg Hancock, who has has Janowski 'under his wing' for some time said he would be a 'slow burner' and that is proving to be the case. Think he will do well in the SGP next year.
Red Panda
Brilliant meeting............... Congratulations Poole and commiserations to Coventry but you were beaten by the best team on the night.......... A couple of pointers though.........5 lap race??????? Not the first time at Poole this season..........the ref awarding that heat on the second lap........by time it was stopped the pirates duo were on the third lap.........a ref can award a race at any time after the first lap has been completed as far as I am aware...........Garrity and Sarjeant need to stop jumping the starts............ On a side note I read elsewhere and this is not the only reason why I think Garrity is a liability on a bike, from a Coventry fan was that Garrity's aim was to put Newman out in heat 2 to give Coventry the win as without Newman we would loose..............Garrity spent every race against Newman trying to put him out of the race and failed............if he had ridden the track and not the rider Coventry may have stood a chance.............
