customhouseregular
It is hard to believe and even harder to remember that once upon a time, if a rider wanted to reach the top and stay at the top, he had to ride for a British side. If this was the 1950's/60's and Poland were dominant, would we see Briggs, Moore, Fundin, Mauger etc. etc. riding for British sides?. I count myself lucky to have seen my speedway in the 60's and 70's as today's elite League does not compare with the old British League. Do Polish fans realise how lucky they are I wonder. customhouseregular
Sweden is even stronger than Poland To be fair, Sweden was strong back in the day though the top Swedes still rode in Britain. It just emphasises my point though about the decline of "top level" speedway in Britain. We may have more teams now than 50 years ago but we don't have the strength or the variety. In my opinion of course.

Most likely they would. You must remember that the current situation concerning speedway worlwide, and the UK particulary is due to the current political situation. In the 50'/60' there was still the Iron Curtain and it would not possible for the likes of Briggs, Moore, Fundin or Mauger to ride in the Polish League on the daily basis. Only thanks to Solidarnosc and the collapse of Iron Curtain Hans Nielsen was allowed to ride for Lublin in Poland, thus showing others the way. Good answer, but had the political situation not been what it was and we had freedom of movement then, do you think the greats of yesteryear would have forsaken their British careers?. Call me a cynic, but if they would get bigger paypacket in PL, I think they would.
racers and royals
Wroclaw speedway stadium is being re-developed for the 2017 world games and therefore Wroclaw can`t use it from 1st July 2015 for 1 year. the home matches are all being staged in the 1st half of the season. If Wroclaw reach the play-offs they will have to use another teams track for the home leg. Ostrow and Czestochowa have been mentioned as possibilities. SteveLyric2
So Czestochowa and Gdansk both bankrupt and thrown out of all Polish leagues!! All is not so rosy in Poland after all.
DutchGrasstrack
Opole also not taking part in the 2nd division. Bydgoszcz has no money and relies on money from the city, might be taking part in the 2nd division instead of the 1st. On the other side: Poznan is probably back in 2016
SteveLyric2
Big new £1,7 million (10 mill zloty?) sponsorship announced for Polish Extraleague. Lets hope some of it goes to those riders left out of pocket last year!!
