secsy1
Everyone knows that October is not a kind month regarding the weather! Is it not possible for all Finals and Individual meetings for the end of season be scheduled for early October at the start of the season? Any other sports season finishes with all trophy's being awarded for the winners and all fixtures completed, we don't. Next years fixtures need to be sorted and ensure that postponements early season can be completed to allow a early conclusion to the Trophy's being presented to allow the Fans (Paying Public) to enjoy the teams success. Looking at the moment that riders, fans, promoters, uncle Tom cobbly an all will be truly pee doff with the sorry end to a excellent season, lol

TheScotsman
But the rain's warmer in July than October.
ch958
whoever suggested the play off final to be the day before the Cardiff GP had a point - it would be quite possible if we got better organised and maybe moved Cardiff back a week or 2 say theres 8 el teams - thats 14 home meetings to finish by end August - doesn't seem too difficult nearly 5 months after the season start a match like that could attract 15/20 000 the night before the GP or even the afternoon following
lucifer sam
In this country you're just as likely to suffer a rain off in June or July as you are in October . Yup, this season the monsoon month was August, next year it'll be a different month. You can't predict the British weather. Bagpuss
August is often wet and September often dry generally speaking. October is always a lottery. Makes sense to get things scheduled in earlier and leave four weeks in October 'just in case'.

Bruiser McHuge
I don't know what the answer is , but for a play off semi final to be run with 7 guest riders has to be a farce... I am a big fan of play offs in principle....I have been to an AFL Grand Final in Australia where a team finishing 8th can be the champions...but it's the best day in Australia...it works.... People who have been to Old Trafford for the Rugby League grand final tell me it's a fantastic day...the NRL in Australia works...the Super Bowl....Rugby Union.....play offs work... But I'm now not too sure about speedway and play offs...whereby the other sports have play offs competed for by the squads who have played the whole season speedway is so open to injuries and the weather that it doesn't seem fair for a semi or a final to be competed for with teams full of other teams riders who have played no part in getting that far and often on a track totally unfit for racing...other sports with play offs don't have these problems and so while I love the idea of play offs in speedway in principle I don't think that practically they work I have defended play offs in speedway but , especially after the past week or so, I am changing my mind

The utter farce caused by the Weather this year makes the Play Offs a lottery. They have extended an already overcrowded Season. One of these years, because of the Weather we will not have time for the Play Offs to be completed. Who would be League Champions then? Oh!!! I've got a good idea: THE TEAM AT THE TOP OF THE LEAGUE!!!

Makes sense to get things scheduled in earlier and leave four weeks in October 'just in case'. October has been a lot drier than August in the last few years ..To be fair I not really seen any problem with how things have work out this year . They gave themselves 26 days to race 6 matches but for some reason people got into panic mode just because a match was called off a couple of times . Thou speedway got a lot of problems some of the moaning this year has reached crazy levels . I think the best one was when someone said the El was to Blame because Doyle had turned up late at Poole after being caught in a traffic jam . As for guests it's ok for people to moan about them but intill someone comes up with a better idea that works better then there is little point moaning about them . And you are right to. I've got a good idea: THE TEAM AT THE TOP OF THE LEAGUE!!! It will never be problem as there always 4 weeks to do 6 matches ...in the old days the league was settle in oct many times and I expect there was more than 6 matches to run then plus ko finals etc ..Rain at this part of the season in fact is more of a problem then that it is now as there was many more fixtures . Um, wasn't fixture congestion far worse BEFORE the advent of the play-offs? Or are your glass-tints too firmly in place to remember the ocassions in the past when the season dragged into November....
