2015 Euro's

But the euro champs don't pay more,?

And the only ones turning down GPS are Emil, and possibly g laguta? I think that's more to do with politics and polish contracts than fim pay rates

Times may have changed but surely the ultimate goal is to be world champ?

Based on the reported prize money they don't really pay anymore. SEC reportedly pays on points whereas SGP pays on position. Only really get a little bit more in the middle of the pack though think BSI also pay the riders some travel money.

Having said that i think a few of the riders are getting some extra payments in addition to the points money, even though not admitted, to support SEC

Personally if you look back at the history of the European Championship then a few years ago they would be over the moon at 7,500 in a stadium like Torun and millions at home around the world(as Michael Buffer say's) :t: watching live on tv.It was unimaginable as the competition attracted the likes of Gafurov,Dryml,Walasek at was played out in front of a couple of thousand. Now there are crowds better than a lot of GPs and riders on a par with GP riders, regardless of why they are not in the GPs.

Quite, but why is there a competition more-or-less competing with the SGP? The sport isn't big enough to be stretching its resources thinly.

And before anyone says that the other sports have World and European Championships, most of those aren't almost entirely based in one continent, and the different championships are not normally held in the same year.

I'd say that when it was set up there was still a fairly strong contingent of Americans as well as the Australians and possibly one or two decent New Zealanders and a few from the South African region.Nobody could have foreseen the disappearance of Americans at least in the speedway world because at one time they seemed to have dozens of riders coming through the ranks.

Armando Castagna in an interview regarding SEC:

https://translate.google.com/translate?hl=sv&sl=pl&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.sportowefakty.pl%2Fzuzel%2F529862%2Farmando-castagna-w-sec-jezdza-zuzlowcy-ktorzy-powinni-byc-w-sgp

Imo the only thing of real value in the interview is the final line: "We have to think of a better arrangement of the calendar for the future - he noted.".

He is very right about that and I think that is a necessity to make all championships and their qualification events work so that scheduling conflicts are avoided (as much as possible atleast).
