BELLE VUE TO MAKE MAX FRICKE AN ASSET

With focus very much on their future, Belle Vue are thrilled to announce that they are in the process of making 19-year old Australian sensation Max Fricke a full asset of the club.

Promoter George Carswell entered into negotiations with Edinburgh, who currently own his contract, before the youngster put pen to paper for the Rentruck Aces in December last year.

In recent seasons the Aces have started to dust off their dormant asset base and have given it a fresh flavour with the addition of young, aspiring athletes like the Worrall twins, Richie and Steve.

But its their acquisition of Fricke that marks the beginning of more progressive endeavours to expand their rider pool ahead of their move to the National Speedway Stadium in 2016.

Despite being the target of several other top flight teams, the triple Australian Under-21 Champion made it clear that Belle Vue was his destination of choice for the current speedway campaign.

Carswell says the club made no secret of their early interest in young Fricke and that they are delighted with the swiftness that a deal was struck up with Edinburgh.

He said: Belle Vue have always held Max in high esteem. Weve had a good relationship since he first began racing in the UK and his circumstances this year make it a natural progression for him.

We were made aware of him in his first year riding at Edinburgh and were very impressed with what we saw. We had a chat after the meeting and since then weve kept an eye on his progress.

Hes always been on our radar and we've kept in regular contact with him, but as far as his future plans were concerned of course weve always respected what Edinburgh have wanted.

Towards the conclusion of the 2013 season Belle Vue made a decision that we wanted to go in a different direction as far as team building and planning for the future were concerned.

We wanted to start building an asset base of young riders with the intention of their being with us for extended periods of time and each signing weve made has been a long-term move on our part.

Max has always been keen to progress through the sport as fast as he could and to do that he needed to be taking on bookings internationally, in Denmark, Sweden and Poland.

These are speedway nations that are notoriously difficult to break into and he knew that to give himself the best opportunity he needed to be racing against Elite League competition.

Edinburgh have always been aware that if the opportunity arose to do a deal wed be interested, and when Max chose to ride Elite League this year it was the natural route for us to pursue.

Excellent news, Max has the potential to get to the very top.

The future is looking bright with the new stadium now taking shape, an asset base of talented riders being built and the start of the Belle Vue training school next year.
