Sounds like a farce again tonight

Feel sorry for the fans having to pay £3 extra and getting less heats speedway would be better off telling sky to sod off if everybody knew rain was expected get on with it don t panda to the tv

Look after the fans who have paid to get in

I stopped watching it on tv after the belle vue farce last year when the fans again paid good money and where treated like s..t

I have finally got back from a very wet Brandon and just want to give my thoughts and comments on a few things mentioned in here. The meeting was called off after consultation with SCB meeting steward Mick Bates,Coventry riders and Poole riders. It was considered to wait 10 mins but decided against as proved correctly the rain was in for the evening and visibility would only get worse.

Now for my thoughts

Yes I do think the production team should have edited the semi highlights down to a 1min VT considering the weather. But can see that they wanted to build the story for the armchair fans at home.

Yes the rain was forecast but arrived later than the 20:00 that both Met office and BBC predicted

Yes Sky sports do have to have ad breaks its the nature of live sport programming.

Yes I do feel in my opinion the meeting could have been ran a little bit quicker. I think we missed Brando's excellent organisation skills as floor manager so interviews would have been quicker and riders fully ready as soon as race finishes.

Yes I do feel sorry for fans like myself that got wet and did not get to see full 15 heats especially after paying extra money.also do understand Coventrys frustration but it was the correct decision not to race on.

Yes ideally this meeting should have been run on Saturday night as would have been better for fans of both clubs and a bigger attendance .However as this was a rearranged event our OB partners Telegenic could not do Saturday as they are fully booked with all their trucks in use for European Rugby for both Sky sports and BT sports along with very busy schedule of programming of other sport on Sky sports? So if had took this option fans unable to attend would have had no chance to watch this meeting.

Finally I do not think it is a clear cut Poole win as Coventry do seem very good at coming back from being the underdogs and have riders that ride Wimborne Road very well.

. Nobody else seemed to want it off and seemed to be confused about why the last 3 heats were off.

That's part of the problem: the secrecy, lack of responsibility and, I suspect, saying one thing publicly and another privately.

If it is the case that a meeting is called off early then a properly documented decision should be made citing those responsible and consulted which is signed by anyone who is party to it.

I see no reason why that couldn't be made public.

Having seen first hand Havvy trying to get meetings off at Scunny on a wet track,i found hiS comments quite funny last night, " All my lads wanna ride",he said",yet his captain had agreed and said to call it off

Should have pushed the meeting on,that is true but nowt we can do about the weather

Instead of blaming the weather,The bees should be asking who the hell let Barker ride!!!!

Note the last heat time was over 65 seconds which shows what the track was like.

The main farce is that Poole rode in the grand final with 3 guests. How is Danny King a number 2?

Well done to Bomber and Kyle. I think we missed Max Fricke tonight!

Agree. Barker clearly showed he is not fit to return and was a silly risk to take going in to the final when still in pain. A guest would def be better.

As a rider Havelock was superb in his day. As a manager of Coventry Speedway - utter rubbish. He really needs to keep away from giving comments/interviews on live television as he comes across as extremely naive. And it was not only this meeting that that has happened.

No blame attached to Poole tonight but Sky's actions have resulted in one team having 15 heats(potentially) at home & the other only 12.

How is that fair?.

You can say Poole might have won by more or The Bees might have got 3 5-1's but I'd rather deal in facts.

The facts are Sky cost this meeting completing end of.

Eurosport are going ahead of Sky in how they do speedway & the only downside is them employing pinky & perky to commentate on it.

So Eurosport who just take a broadcast organised/produced by in order BSi/IMG.C more(Sweden) and one sport are doing a better job than SKY !!! And no they do not employ Nigel and Kelvin-they are the world feed commentators and Eurosport just tap into their output. You will probably be telling us next that Dave Rowe and Sam are in Sweden every Tuesday !!!

it's going to be interesting on Monday night to see the score after 12 heats on Agg and see which team benifits from the extra 3 heats at Poole

I watched this quite late last night and must stress I am a supporter of neither team.

I thought given the weather that had preceded, the track was decent (especially given the poor surface at Coventry most of the year), but was clearly never going to withstand much rain.

For Coventry I thought Harris and Howarth were excellent, but the great white hope Garrity proved he has little finesse when it's not a ploughed field. Barker was dangerous like usual and the rest didn't really look interested.

Poole looked solid and all gave a decent performance with Newman looking the real deal.

In regards to SKY, I guess they have a right to dictate a meeting being run to mirror programming requirements as they have paid rather a lot of £££ for that privilege. Did they favour Poole in the way it was done, I think not.

Let's keep our fingers crossed for a decent track for Monday and some decent racing to decide the Play Off Champions.

PS Why do they keep letting Havvy on screen being interviewed, I can hardly understand a word he says and those I can appear to be utter drivel, I feel for Coventry fans. Middlo may say some daft things, but compared to Havvy he's an interview God lol

The difference between speedway and having teeth being pulled is at least you have an injection to numb any pain when a tooth is extracted where as speedway you get nothing to numb the pain, maybe the tracks are missing a trick here and should be selling some sort of legal drug to fans who come so their experience is artificially raised.

Most thankfully have found a cure for this condition, its called walking away!
