Star Lady
Bet their hole won't be sorted! A speedway first - a water feature !
Shaleshifter
Bet their hole won't be sorted! Fot your information the hole has been repaired.Gerald Richter was down at the stadium last week repairing the damage to the track.
SteveLyric2
Also there has been virtually constant rain all week and more forecast this week so any use of covers would mean putting them down on an already soaking track, which does not make for a safe, decent racing surface. Trees
Well thank goodness for that, no doubt every rider will be having a good old dig about in that area when the meeting eventually does go ahead!! Also there has been virtually constant rain all week and more forecast this week so any use of covers would mean putting them down on an already soaking track, which does not make for a safe, decent racing surface. Must have been dry when Gerald sorted 'the hole'?

No rain on Tuesday so have a chance to prepare. The forecast for Wednesday has changed for the worse from this morning though!
paul90210
Surely if poole can't get this meeting on either Wednesday or Thursday, that will have been 4 attempts, all done because of their inability to prepare their track (either on purpose or by mistake) for this first attempt, then they must forfeit the meeting and lynn go through. That's my opinion anyway.
Bagpuss
Eventually a decision has to be made, we can't keep trying to get the meeting on and end up running out of season to run the final. Whether it be a coin toss, taking the first leg score as an aggregate or awarding the second leg to Lynn something needs to be sorted soon.
Star Lady
How feasible is a neutral venue finance wise? I'm assuming that Poole would for financial purposes become the promoters. Would they even have the 2nd leg at Lynn. They did after all win the first leg there. That surely would be a better option than a coin toss or awarding it. It would also guarantee a reasonable crowd which might not be the case anywhere else.
Jacques
The weather forecast for Wednesday is terrible, it doesn't matter if you close one eye, turn your head to one side there is a great big swathe of wet and windy weather in it's way, even after what we a getting today down here at the moment.... Bad weather happens but there is no need to panic as there is plenty of time . I am amazed that people could even think there would be a neutral venue .Do people really think that Poole are going give up the gate money ? And who would paid for the hire of the stadium and the riders wages etc . I Understand these call offs are frustrating but we need to stay reasoned in our thinking . Star Lady
It needs to be sorted for Coventry's sake. I'm pretty sure when they book the stadium for a final which is then cancelled thro no fault of their they still incur costs. Pretty sure Sky don't pick up those costs even tho the dates were obviously set in haste for their benefit so it's either Coventry don't book the stadium now until the semi is run or get the semi on somewhere fast or tell Sky that BSPA will decide the dates whether you like it or not.
mdmc82
Thursday is the reserved date if Poole can't race Wed although there is suggestion of a neutral track being used if still not able to do it as we'd will be third attempt. Bagpuss
Agree on the neutral venue thing, that's a non starter for me and the weather can't be garunteed wherever you hold it.
Woz01
First thing Poole need to do is get the covers down on Tuesday while they have a dry day. At least give it a chance of running Wednesday. The thing is Coventry is forecast for sunshine on Friday! I expect only insiders know the in's and out on how much the costs are and who pays for them . The fact is intill this match is ran then the final is unlikely to happen no matter what dates cov book there stadium for . SteveLyric2
I'd have thought Coventry had every Friday at least provisionally booked to the end of October!!!? Especially after them not being able to stage home meetings at the beginning of the season - due to unsatisfactory track conditions wasn't it?!
cityrebel
I've no doubt the powers that be are under pressure from sky due to their TV schedules, but with over half of October left, there is still time to get these meetings run without the need of neutral venues or coin tosses!
TheSmiler
I'm bored now, the faffing around with this (whether it's the weather's fault or not - no pun intended ) has put me off. I can't make the Friday now but I would've made today (even though its a wash out here too so it hardly matters). They need to take this on board for next season. It's a huge shame but can someone correct me if I'm wrong but isn't this the latest a play off has run for a good few years? If it wasn't for silly 2/3 week breaks in July we wouldn't be in this mess. Hopefully I'll get excited when the time comes but I don't particularly care now. This ^ Not only the financial costs, booking riders air fares etc, but the huge effort that many fans are putting in to ensure the biggest crowd possible, at a time when the future of our stadium might just depend on proving to key people that there's massive love and support for this historic centre of speedway excellence, and a valid reason for keeping the venue active. I worked hard to get around ten people to the original postponed staging, most of them newcomers to speedway - two of which lost money on a hotel booking - and need to know that the meeting is on this week so I can attempt to do that all over again.
