Lakeside 2015

Recommended Posts

Can anyone direct me to Lakeside's 2013 averages, preferably with a Home / Away split please, thanks!

No home and away split - and you do need to select 2013 on the right hand side under the menu.

If you really do want/need a home/away split I can get you the figures tomorrow. You're probably best PMing me tomorrow to remind me.

Lakeside have made a team change

The Vortex Hammers have renamed their team for the forthcoming fixtures with Steve Boxall coming in following two impressive guest performances in place of Ashley Birks, who has a string of fixture clashes coming up with his Sheffield commitments making him unavailable to ride for the Hammers, including home meetings against Coventry and Poole.

Jon Cook explained: Its a rock and a hard place time for Neil Vatcher and myself. Were really enjoying working with Ash (Ashley Birks), who has really fitted in well with the Club, but we simply dont have acceptable standard riders around to replace him within the next twenty eight days and as the rules stand Steve Boxall only has two more guest appearances for us so this move has to happen for us to be at our strongest against Coventry and Poole.

Personally think Boxall will be a lot stronger esp around Lakeside. He will still miss less meetings.

Meetings BIRKS would have missed:

May: Coventry (H) Coventry (A) Poole (H)

July: Belle Vue (H) Swindon (H)

Aug: Leicester (A) Coventry (A)

I suppose this has been half on the cards since Steves impressive debut against Kings Lynn. Ash is the better rider on paper and although he has impressed with the odd good race he seems to have been struggling with set ups and mechanical problems. On the other hand Steve seems to have seen his chance and grabbed it with both hands which is what speedwáy is all about, so good for him. Let's hope his form continues.

No reflection on Ash who is a decent rider but has been unlucky with injuries last year and now bikes. I hope he reaches his undoubted

potential, but he needs a run of things going his way.

It's a funny old sport at times.

Personally think Boxall will be a lot stronger esp around Lakeside. He will still miss almost as many meetings as Birks, however most of them will be away.

Meetings BIRKS would have missed:

May: Coventry (H) Coventry (A) Poole (H)

July: Belle Vue (H) Swindon (H)

Aug: Leicester (A) Coventry (A)

Meetings BOXALL will be missing:

May: Coventry? (A) Wolves (A)

July: Swindon (A)

Aug: Leicester (A) Poole (H) Coventry (A)

The two meetings in May and the away fixture against Coventry in August are Bank Holiday Mondays when Rye House starts at 2pm. All three are double-headers with NL matches to follow so they get the first through fairly swiftly. Easter Monday's Rye v Peterbrough match was done and dusted (and dusty) by 3.40. Therefore there is enough time for Steve (and Ed) to ride in the evening EL matches.

The one decision that does surprise me, though, is why Lakeside have agreed to visit Leicester on 1st August. Not only will they be without Ed and Steve but it is, also, the Swedish Individual Championships. Both AJ and Kim will be seeded direct to the final I imagine.

Steve Boxall out for 3 weeks but hoping to come back sooner

Really bad luck for both Steve and Lakeside as soon as they make the team change. This means they can only use riders in the "guest part" of Tier 1 or riders on the tier 2 list.

They have reverted back to their old 1-7 with And Birks in the team. BUT that leave me confused as to why they had to use a guest last night at Wolves. Should have been Birks or a blank.
