Lakeside 2015

Recommended Posts

I don't doubt he had Arlington totally Sussed, but there again so did Floppy but you could never say he was world class. Moreover, sommelier's post was in relation to his performance at Poole last season. I can't recall any 'world class' performances by Bridger at Poole whether riding for Lakeside or guesting for the Pirates.

Poole v Lakeside 14/05/14 He was flying that night, if Ward was out injured, but would have been hard pushed with Bridger that night! & im a big Ward fan.

Same as in 2014 then?

Not strictly true, he started the season slowly, made a great improvement in the middle part & then faded away towards the end. Unfortunately, confidence is probably about 80% of any sport & Simon seems to lose that very easily. I can remember him storming around the Abbey stadium with Eastbourne, beating numerous Swindon riders on the night & looking a good prospect for the future.

Ive heard that...Simon Gustafson is taking a break from the sport in 2015 ;)

I think that someone - who shall remain nameless - is over-emphasising this.

Neil confirms on first page of SS.

Ah, I was going by last weeks SS and won't have this weeks till tomorrow or Friday. That means SS were wrong last week when they said there were 5.93 left. If there is actually 6.59 left it makes interesting and strengthens the case for Swiderski on 6.22 over Nilsson on 5.63 but there might be leeway for someone else.

Vaclav Milik, Joonas or being a bit naughty MJJ?

Looks like Davey is off to Poole as expected. While I do think that we needed to mix things up a bit with team building for next season (especially with AJ's return), I'm sure Davey will get a very warm welcome when he visits Arena. He has been a fantastic captain through some tough times for the club, and I genuinely think that he has had a significant impact on the improvement of some of our younger / less experienced riders - Richard in particular.

He has also provided plenty of entertainment racing around the boards of our track the last few years - and our heatleaders will certainly need to work hard to beat him when Poole come to Lakeside next season! I think riding at 3 or 5 will take some pressure off and he'll push his average back above 7 points again.

Funny you should say that .I t struck me straight away MJJ could just about be squeezed in to make a very competitive looking side. Could Cookie cope with two Danes in the same team though ? My inclinations are still towards Swiderski but I wouldn't bet on it !

Can't imagine Kylmo coming back and a lot people would be disappointed if he did, but Valik ? If I remember rightly, last time he came he was being whopped by the FTDR riders so I don't think we'll see him !

Will we see a completely new face ?

Milik is a quality young rider and would soon suss Purfleet after two or three meetings. Quite surprised Poole have plumped for Watt and North instead of him as he provides far better value than them on his average.

  • 2 weeks later...

Looks like the final team place goes to Kim:

Not all that surprising or exciting as team announcements go, but he does have the potential to up his average, particularly riding with AJ this season, and at least we'll have another club asset on board.

To be honest I think we might struggle at #3 throughout the season - but as the riders move up and down from that third heatleader spot we should have 2 very solid second strings which might make up for it to some extent, especially with a strong top 2. It's looking like plenty of other teams might struggle to have 3 genuine heat leaders anyway.

A lot depends on Kim improving and Eddie hitting some good form this season I think.

Kim Nilsson it is then.

Beat me to it :)

Kim is an asset and it is, perhaps, not a surprise that he makes the team. I believe we are considerably under the 34 point limit but do admit the team carries a lot of potential. Kim, in particular, needs to bring his continental form to these shores. He should do well riding as a second string.
