Rob Lee
I bought the Star today for the first time in years, and it reminded me of that brilliant Gerry Rafferty song. I thought that with all the controversy over the Poole semi and the Greaves / Sarjeant / Phillips fracas, they might have something to get their teeth into. Silly me !! Controversy, what controversy? Just a brief report that the Poole match was off and nothing on the outcome of the SCB investigation. I remember now why I stopped my subscription years ago. They don't report anything, just dish out the BSPA line and keep their heads firmly in the sand.

As a weekly magazine we are always in danger of being overtaken by events. Sorry you were disappointed but anyone who thinks we toe the BSPA line should ask a few of their members what they think of us!
Jonny the spud
Used to subscribe but don't now. If you look at the online version it's just like a lads mag with busty women every other page. Trying a bit too hard to be extreme and failing

Trying a bit too hard to be extreme and failing Xtra, to which you are referring, isn't the online edition of Speedway Star.

f-s-p
Have not subscribed for years its out of date before you get it internet is the best source and a great deal cheaper. My internet is 480 euros a year for the connection, then I need the computer to get online. Thats another 500 euros spread over 4 years. Beats Spar everyday. NOT On the other hand rumours, results and gossip might be out of date by the time it's in your mailbox. But there's a lot more. There just is.

Seriously, I would like to know why Xtra puts you off (and the few others you have spoken to) subscribing to Speedway Star.

And after a while when you've been "hit" in the face after using that info on your discussions and trusted some plonker who actually had no idea, you'll start to get the picture. Print media really is on it's last legs. Thats a fact, probably even world wide. This is what a "30 year career" in Finnish sports journalism in one of the top6 biggest newspapers said to me face too face this season. And even if it would have legs to stand on, the world is changing, everything is about money and profit and reasonably well doing papers are brought down because they dont generate enough money. Yeah but I don't pay anything, and the last star I picked up I would not even wipe my bum on it. Neither would I. It's too hard, rip's easy and a lot more expensive then the soft paper I use. Anyway, I'll check what You have to reply, but then I'm out from this thread. It will re appear in the next 6 months with the same things done over again.

The H Man
I subscribed to the star for 12 years got the usual letter in post saying 4 copies left in September 2013 forgot to re-subscribe, didn't really miss it and no one from the mag bothered to chase me by email, phone or snail mail and haven't bothered to buy a copy since. Thing is had they'd called me I would have re-subscribed for sure out of habit/loyalty alone! Wonder how many others you've lost Phil in same way?

blueherb777
For the last few years I subscribe for 6 months from the Bumper Issue. That covers 95% of the season and I find the winter issues just fill in articles. That might be just me. But let me say I enjoy the Magazine and lets be fair - the ONLY Speedway one around now.
