Swindon 2015

Hopefully they will change the team limits as it was pointed out by many that most of the second strings would be on false averages due to the FTR system.

As will most heat leaders. Still the same number of points available for their averages. As reserves were guarenteed 14, thats 7 a team and a team need ~41 to win a meeting that means the top 5 only needs to average 34. Throw in the odd reserve beating a second string too. The limit doesn't need to go up too much.

I would be very surprised if the Robins went with Ritchings again from the start of the season, even though he did actually look pretty good in his first meeting at Lakeside.

They should stick with the local Purton-flyer, one of the few who really wants to ride for the team. I wouldn' be bothered about having a rider in the GPs as well, Iversen and Wardy were still top 2 of the EL averages, and Zagar was in top 4, and Harris in top 6.Woffy was affected.

I'd love to see him in there too, I really would. Just can't see it sadly. I reckon he might have to start with just National League and work his way up. Seems like he might know a lot more soon

I'd go with the same as Titus except I'd have PK instead of Batch. PK's got to be one of the most entertaining riders in Speedway even when he's not quite on it. Doyley in for Batch for me as I think he would give us the top end consistency which we've lacked this year.

I hate leaving Batch out as I think he's been a great skipper and is a real team man but I think Jason is in front of him at the moment and has really come to the fore over the last 2 years.

Schleiny in for Simon as he loves the Abbey and is a battler...

He was unpopular from around 2006 for various childish gestures to the Blunsdon crowd. In the 2007 final at Coventry he surpassed his previous antics by setting fire to a Swindon Robins flag after the Bees had clinched victory. Quite unbelievable to watch to be honest.

He seems to have grown up a little over the years and most likely his recent performances at Swindon in the ELRC and the Bob Kilby memorial seems to have erased most Robins fans dislike of him.

I would have thought a good offer to young Max Fricke might be a good idea. With Morris in the team, Rosco could bring both riders on for sure, however, I suspect Mick Horton and Havvy may be looking at bringing him to Coventry. Whatever happens, a fantastic young rider for the future, reminded me of Shamek in the play off final 2010.

Can't see Max being at Coventry next year as he will stick on for Edinburgh next year who ride the same night as Coventry.

From the Leicester website regarding Doyley.

"The season may have just ended for the Rapid Solicitors Lions but Promoter David Hemsley is already thinking about the team that he would like to see represent the club next year. The Lions ended their first season in the Elite League a disappointing last and that is a position that Hemsley does not want to see replicated in 2015. “Attendance wise it was a success and for that reason alone it endorsed the decision to move into the top division. The level of racing and quality of competitor was that much better than we had seen before as most weeks a Grand Prix rider featured in the visiting team at the Jordan Road Surfacing Stadium. Looking back we had our moments and at one stage went six matches unbeaten at home before injuries took their toll. The one big positive to take from the season was the arrival of Jason Doyle on the world stage and he has deservedly earned his place in next season’s Grand Prix series which of course presents us with a challenge if he decides to return for a second season at Leicester as each of the rounds of the competition are staged on Saturday’s, our normal race night, but that will not get in the way of talking to Jason this weekend” explained Hemsley.

Hemsley, accompanied by his Team Manager Norrie Allan is due to travel out to Poland today to open talks with Jason Doyle who is attending the last round of the Speedway Grand Prix at the Torun track. “Jason is my top priority to secure his signature for 2015. He became an instant hit with Lions fans and I know that they will be delighted if talks come to fruition at the weekend. I don’t see that a clash of commitments between Leicester and the staging of the Grand Prix meetings will be a problem as I am formulating plans for a workaround as and when Jason will be missing but I cannot divulge what they are until I have cleared it with our governing body. Whilst we are in Poland I will be taking the opportunity to talk to a current Grand Prix rider about the possibility of joining Leicester. At this moment in time it would be unfair to name him but should we be successful the rider in question will add a new dimension to the team and create a powerful spearhead with Jason. It was an area we lacked at the top end of the team last season and I believe it is essential that we rectify the situation going forward” added Hemsley."

Thanks for the reply ER. I only came back the sport in 2010 so was not aware of his past behavior.

As you say in your second paragraph I'm only going on what I've seen of him in the last 5 years so have based my judgement on that but could understand some Robins fans not wanting him in the team...

My memory might be playing tricks but I think you will find that he snatched a Robin's flag from a youngster and chucked it on the ground, I don't think he set fire to it but even so it was very poor behaviour for a professional sportsman and I have disliked the pikey ever since!

Hemsley is widely known to talk an awful lot of rubbish in truth. Was banging on about signing a world class rider for a couple of months in July I think and it never arrived, and nobody ever questioned wide. Speedway journalists don't seem very good, on the whole. Any decent ones? Certainly not at the Star.

As Jason is a Swindon asset DH would need to get permission from Rosco to speak to him and offer him a position next year.

Until Rosco knows what riders will want to return and which riders he wants in the team Leicester may have to wait for the make up of the top riders that Swindon have agreed terms with.

If PK gets into the GPs and possibly a top Polish club will he want to also ride in the UK.

Are the clubs going to bring in sharing the number 1 position.

What will the team average limit be.

I know that Jason can decide he would prefer to ride for Leicester but it seems a bit early for DH to be making plans.

Sadly this route seems a none starter. Kenneth Bjerre has already said only a full season makes it affordable to ride in the EL. Limited meetings will mean the top boys losing money.

Pk has not been picked as a permanent rider in 2015 GPs so that may be a factor in his availability next year at Swindon.

Batch has been given a place and of course Jason is also in the series.
