thecoombdog
Usually they do, if it's not on you can just ask for the channel to be changed.. However this Saturday is England Vs Australia in the Rugby World Cup and the place will be 'packed to the rafters' so you'll be fortunate to see the end of the meeting.. Cheers for the info. I was hoping they would show it in the little room at the side. Fancy a night out on the ale and can't stand the egg chasing so speedway is my only hope! I might give them a call today and ask. Return of Odin
I can remember him in Robins colours when Leigh Adams rode Blu, he looked so good, so fast, so stylish. You could see he looked up to Adams and he used to often say how he would like to emulate Leigh. Having left for Ipswich (after getting in a strop because he was replaced by Zagar when he got injured) he signed for the Panthers, and I thought he looked pretty good around the EOES. He then re signed for the Robins, amongst plenty of derision from Swindon fans (I must admit to thinking it was a damn good signing) We have seen a very slight improvement in him over the last few years, but his vulnerable temperament, inconsistency and reluctance to mix it when the going gets tough ( in others words when he misses the gate) has been there for all to see. I can understand Rosco making him skipper originally as he probably wanted to give him more responsibility in the hope that he may become a decent leader. But on reflection it hasn't worked. I am simply gobsmacked by him and feel totally cheated. At the risk of repeated myself and sounding boring, he needs to go and someone needs to give him the message now. He's not a #1 in my eyes and never has been, for the World #8 to perform like that is just unacceptable. I'd never really appreciated quite how strong his "reluctance to mix it" was until pointed out. However he is what we used to call a "gating tart". I honestly believe (and I get we have other concerns currently) that if we want to be successful in 2016 we need to go in another direction. Mr Batchelor would be welcome to "explore other opportunities"
thecoombdog
Just phoned the steam and they aren't showing it at all because of a clash with the egg chasing. Anyone else know any other speedway pubs in the Don? Edited September 28, 2015 by thecoombdog

EnglishRoundabout
Ah ok ta Steve getting confused as there is another place called 'steam' near to the outlet village.
A ORLOV
The only other pub that might show the whole GP then switch to the rugby is the Wheatsheaf in Ermin St, the one run by Roscos sister, but I would ring to make sure. Would have thought the steam railway could have shown it in the bars where they have multiple screens, if the GP is any good will probably go to the pub to see the rerun. EnglishRoundabout
Just as an aside topic, I saw a clip of the great Leigh Adams this evening. He was sending a greeting to his adoring Lezno fans in Poland. He was sat at a table talking and looking fit and well. Apologies but I don't have a link. Incidentally, Leigh's 8 year old track record at Somerset was finally broken tonight by a very fast Craig Cook.

Nice to hear, such a tragedy, he really was an absolute joy to watch at Blunsdon, well just about every where actually.

van wolfswinkel
Good night at the ice-hockey even though the Swindon Wildcats were beaten 5-2 by Milton Keynes. Speedway could learn a lot from this sport. From 13 quid for a seat, excellent viewing, and free parking, no wonder the crowds are growing compared to falling attendances at the local football and speedway clubs. The players involve the fans and are happy to sign autographs and have their photos taken. Great non-stop entertainment/atmosphere, and the fans loved it. They're never taken for granted. Crazy robin
Will Doyle return to Swindon ? Hope so but the points he takes means the back up boys will have to be spot on which leaves Nick, Zengi & Troy fighting for one spot possibly. Pretty sure nicks final average is under 7. Wouldn't mind a top 3 of Doyle, zengi and Nick
Return of Odin
Will be an interesting winter in many regards. Team building will be curious, I personally still have some time for the old way of allocate a points limit and let people build a team as they see fit, but we'll doubtless have rules about the number >8 or >7 or in the GP series once again. As others have said the fast track principle needs looking at, whilst positive in some regards once people are scoring 5 ride maximums it needs to be reviewed. Rosco has said a couple of time we need an out and out #1. Unless we get some riders we don't expect deciding to do the UK in 2016 I assume that can only really be Doyle or Kildemand, yes I know the latter wasn't great in the play-offs but no disputing he's a #1 in my mind. After that there are a number of "big hitters" around on losish averages, maybe because they aren't consistent as they once were or maybe as a result of the new meeting format, possibly both, I;m thinking Andersen, Lindgren, Harris, Bjerre etc, good recruitment here I think could make all the difference as some of these guys will still win meetings and could add significantly to their averages. For Swindon I hope PK decides to do the UK, with a likely GP spot this is possibly not going to happen but with a <7 average an absolute steal. if we want a genuine #1 then Doyle is an option. Batchelor can go for me, just doesn't show up when needed and I think his performance in the recent play offs have left lots of fans very frustrated. Morris and Zengi both had good years, but have fairly high averages now, which might make accommodating them both difficult, Zengi was fabulous this year at times, think we all know Rosco would plump for Morris though if given a choice. PK, Morris, Zengi, Andersen, Summers would make us pretty competitive and probably affordable??
van wolfswinkel
Adver "Rider of the Year" time...can only be one winner, Darky finished easily top of the Elite averages with his 10 rides for Swindon, and without him wouldn't have made the play-offs. Zengi, Summers, Morra and Wrighty had good seasons. Swindon can compete with the best when it comes to signing new riders, and will be attracting the best in their shiny new stadium at some stage next year.
