Swindon 2015

Recommended Posts

I know this is not speedway but for anyone interested in WW2 aircraft, there is the Battle of Britain flypast flying over Radnor St Cemetery, Old Town Swindon at 12.50 tomorrow. The flight apparently has many Spitfire and Hurricanes in it flying across Southern England.

Yep there till Wednesday, I clambered into the cockpit like the rest of the kids!! Bit tight for a 17 stone 6ft.3 old geezer like me!

Crikey Haydon, you would never make it over the wall nowadays!! :)

Not sure what has happened with the reported number of aircraft flying.

Original report mentioned 45 aircraft but only about 6 now to fly over Swindon, maybe the rest are flying elsewhere.

Still well worth going to Old Town though, just for the historical event and fantastic sound of them.

Edit 11.30

Just been reported on main BBC news from Goodwood.

There are 40 + aircraft and as I mentioned above they are splitting up into groups of 5 and 6 to fly to different locations throughout Southern England.

Not sure if this is the most appropriate thread or indeed if it has already been discussed, but sad to hear about the loss of David Ashby who has died of cancer.

I remember David as a Blunsdon track specialist who regularly used to 'dive bomb' his opponents going into the third bend at the Abbey.

He was regularly seen on the Blunsdon terraces stood with brother Martin, but he had been absent in recent times as his health became worse.

Best wishes to the Ashby family, and thanks for the memories David.

Remember David in around 1972 riding in second-half races for Swindon Starlets. Can also remember him in later years beating Terry Betts of Kings Lynn twice, around The Abbey. His career though was plagued by illness and injuries, and he broke a collar-bone in his last ever ride riding for the All-Stars against the 67 title winning team in the late 80s. The local Marlborough-lad rode 197 times for the Robins, a good club servant.

R.I.P. David.

Good to see homes being occupied at Kilby Crescent at the new Blunsdon Mead development.

Well done Swindon Town FC for organising a collection for Darky at the next home match :t:

Brilliant to see Bob recognised that way. It will be easier to fully appreciate the accolade once that new stadium is up and running though.

And condolences to David's family. He was a lovely guy. One of those true Club men, of which Swindon have been lucky to have a few over the years.

Swindon are looking to mainly use their own assets in 2016 and get the team sorted early.

@AdverSport: Robins to have new approach for 2016 line-up: REGARDLESS of the result in Mondays Elite League play-off second leg http://t.co/QLMo3lRgzG

That makes sense - Doyle, Kildemand, Zengota, Morris would be a good start Edited by Steve0

Could only have 2 of Doyle, Morris & Zengota as they all have averages over 7.

With the mention of a number 1 and the Aussie part, Doyle sounds like the rider Rosco has it mind. He was good with the Robins.

I can't see Rosco letting Morris go so maybe Zengota will be the rider to ride elsewhere.

Kildemand should be back at Swindon if he's not got the SGP.

Think Batchelor has once again been a let down esp as a captain.

Maybe the rules may change. Batch is always a let down dont know why but he can be very hot and cold.
