Starman2006
Yes I'll leave it to you as if speedway is the only thing in your life it must be sad Oh no mate, Speedway is just one of many things in my life. Grachan
Certainly better than Phil Crump. But Jason and Leigh, not yet.. Based on what? The fact that Phil Crump never rode for Poole? Ward has the potential to be better than Phil Crump, but he hasn't reached that level just yet. Crump did get to be World no 3. Darcy could become world number one, but he isn't there yet. Judging by your 12,556 posts (so far) I would hazard a guess that the ONLY thing in your life is posting tripe on here!

BritPete
I don't think there's too much in it between Ward and Phil Crump. Both good racers, but you can't read too much into Crump's third place in a world final, because he was the only rider on Neil Street's four valve invention, which was a huge mechanical advantage, and it could be argued that he should have won that meeting. chris4gillian
Never saw Briggo & I meant Darcy wasn't better than the 3 riders I listed. How many times did you see Phil ride the Abbey then against stronger riders as well? I wouldn't bother asking starman69 a question as he'll NEVER answer it...his 'reply' proves it! Judging by your 12,556 posts (so far) I would hazard a guess that the ONLY thing in your life is posting tripe on here! No it's not as it's the same on our own Poole Forum too!
MattK
So the one armed bandit is back in the team. Or if it another administrative error?

It was 1975 when Crump could and should have been World Champion had he held back on the 4 valve and unveiled it in the World Championships. I think he scored 10 points and came 5th that year, but others had cottoned on to the 4 valves by the time they got to the final. He came 3rd in 1976, when everyone was on them, but 1975 was the year he should have used his 4 valve advantage. Had Crump unveiled that bike in the 1975 or 1976 final nobody would have got near him. Articles say that one reason Peter Collins won in 1976 was that his bike was so much faster than the rest of the field. Phil Crump - certainly in 1975/1976 - was at a level that Darcy has yet to reach, and even in 1982 I remember an article in Speedway Star saying that he was probably the best rider in the World. People tend to forget just how good he was due to Jason being even better plus his later World Championship disappointments. tellboy
I see Miedzinski is back in the Swindon line up.Maybe they want to get another number 1 to replace him up to his average so they don't have to re-declare and get rid of another rider.Miedzinski may stay who knows, but this does give them more points if they don't want to get rid of anybody else. SteveLyric2
So presumably AM will have to ride at least once more - possibly longer if there is a time issue with DW's visa application?? Swindon's July team average with AM back in is 34.47, so if DW is still a real option they'll have more decimal points to lose for their 5th rider option. (PS. Apparantly Terry Russell is with MF in Florida, according to a photo from Middlo on facebook!!!) Edited June 25, 2015 by Skidder1

Crazy robin
So presuming Adrian was to ride at Leicester & we pick up no points there would be little chance of reaching the play offs anyway. Even with Darcy & Brady Kurtz in the team away wins will be hard to come by & Swindon need 3 of those. SteveLyric2
Not sure how you would fit Kurtz and Ward in?? Kurtz's converted average is 5.45 from July 1st. BTW have you spent a lot of time in New York, New York? Edited June 25, 2015 by Skidder1
stratton
My take on thing's is i don't believe this side at the moment is good anough to make the play/offs.I think whoever is released will be unlucky, even Batch because i believe he can turn his season around the ability is there. But with Ward and the exciting Kurtz in the side i can see away wins coming that has to happen. Also Ward will help bring a few through the gate a great rider and Swindon need that, and i have not looked forward to a rider coming to Swindon so much since the days of Scott Autrey coming in 1980.If this does not happen i would be happy with the other scenario, and make of the team with Pawlicki in but with Ward/Kurtz Swindon could still make the top four away wins a must. SCB
If Swindon sign Kurtz they'll need to drop a 3rd rider. Swindon have enough room for an 8ish PL rider - Kurtz is higher than that.
Grachan
I can't believe people would consider dropping Bachelor to bring in someone on a short term loan. What happens next year, when PK decides not to come back again, Ward is at Poole and Troy has told us to get stuffed?

Move on? We had to sign Miedzinski this year because nobody was available. Look what's happened there. That's where these problems have come from in the first place. I'm all for seeing Ward, but let's not shut the club down in the process!!

Phil Crump was an excellent rider but to me he never quite reached the consistency over a number of seasons of the likes of Collins, Simmons or even Jessup. Darcy has a lot of potential and is good to watch but at the moment I don't think he has achieved as much as Phil did and is not yet as good as Phil at his best. It will be a tremendous waste of talent if he doesn't realise his potential but if he does he could be one of the all time greats.
