semion
It could be suggested Lambert would gain more from going to a smaller, more technical track. Alwarton and Saddlebow are not that different.
Trees
I'd find an extra quid a week, little more than a snickers lol Edited December 3, 2014 by Trees
g13webb
Not expecting too many surprises on Tuesday night. Am imagining the 1-5 will remain the same. Feel the squad was stronger last year in comparison with other teams, This year they have another 2 points to strengthen, whereas we still have the same. I feel fate played a massive hand in the final outcome of the Elite League last year, and barring the injuries and clubs folding, we would have walked it. Still believe we can be successful with this team, but everyone has to apply themselves to every match. There are no easy meetings any more, and each club will be capable of beating each other. Just Hoping NKI has lost non of his magic, Kenneth gets back to the form he once had, and the rest all improve and perform as a solid unit. If all the team are on song we should be OK. Play-off's contenders from the off......
speedy17
I never understand this get use to a tighter technical track malarkey. Unless it's your home track why would you want to get use to it? I'm pretty sure if you have any ambition to hit the big stage, like Robert, then a gaining experience at a Rye House etc isn't going to do you any good when you're riding in Poland and Sweden. Could end up like a Kennett.
Bagpuss
Quite agree. Just riding in the PL will expose him to more of the tight circuits, but riding every week on a big one will do him more long term good.

Woz01
More and more Gps are ridden on temporary arena tracks though, he will need to master both to get to the top. Edited December 3, 2014 by woz01

g13webb
I think all tracks have their own merits. Big or small, tight or open, they all require an act to master them. This is where you separate the men from the boys. No doubt all riders have their preferences, but the top riders have to master them all. There's no right or wrong riding any additional specific track, new pastures will add to your experiences and thus making you a better rider. The senses of opinions say the Norfolk Arena is as good as any to ride, but riders need to master other tracks as well. When talking with an old favourite of mine, he once spoke of the EESG saying, it was an easy track to ride but a difficult one to master. he continued, in saying ,You need a fast bike to take advantage of the wide bends..... when you get it right, you get a fantastic sense of achievement. Must admit , I've seen some wonderful meetings at the showground.....
stevebrum
More and more Gps are ridden on temporary arena tracks though, he will need to master both to get to the top. Well said woz01. It certainly hasn't hindered Woffy from achieving his dream riding on a small track regular! I remember some commenting the likes of Freddie etc wont ever be World Champion if they continue to ride on small technical tracks. the ever increasing temporary GP tracks are usually on the small side. I agree regards Lambert. A season or 2 at a small track will give him much needed rounded skills. Hopefully he will be back at Lynn after a solid debut EL season. The point about riders going to technical tracks is that it pushes them outside their comfort zone, and eventually won't get phased by any type of track. The other thing is that different tracks have different surfaces and the more tracks riders learn to master the more experienced they will be in getting set ups right .
Star Lady
Sadly, If Buster sticks the prices up for next season then it will be a now and again experience for me as well. For certain I wouldnt go anywhere near the place on a wet night. For £17/18 I will feel like I really want to be entertained. Speedway at Elite League level is NOT an £17/plus sport. It seems there is always a straw that breaks the camels back, for me, IF the prices go up, then That will do for me. Its no good Promoters sticking the prices up, then moan when attendances fall. Even now when I go I do not buy any of the over inflated drink and food nor £2 for a racecard. Can seem me doing a Star Lady and stopping home with my knitting and Holby City lol Always was ahead of my time BTW I don't knit and don't watch Holby (is it even on on Weds/Thurs?) I didn't mind paying £17 at away matches last season cos, daft I know, but an away match is more of an occasion. I would not pay that at Lynn. Like you I expect entertainment for that amount, which I can get at the the theatre ( well Corn Exchange) and know it's non stop for 2 hours +. All you get at speedway is 15/16 minutes of riding with the occasional bit of passing/team riding/excitement. Continuity of riders might tempt me occasionally as I enjoyed watching 6 out of 7 of them away last season. Having the same riders you sort of get attached to them and you can see their progression. A different team each year of foreign journeyman fly in get paid disappear till the next meeting kind of rider turns me right off . A new mic man would be an essential for me tho, cos the one there now has about as much personality as my keyboard and about as much speedway knowledge as the man in the moon, and he hasn't improved since he started IMHO. Bagpuss
You Gents make some good points, and I think a year on a tight track at some point wouldn't do Robert any harm, but at this early stage of his career I wouldn't worry if it's not this coming season. He showed last year that he can get round the little uns ok, probably the result of a lot of practice at Rye House during his early teens. I think P'boro would suit him down to the ground of he is to do PL and he would be a firm favourite there in no time.

Gavan
It's a skill he will need to master to reach the very top riding all sorts of tracks. It works both ways in my view. True world class riders like Crump could ride anywhere. Nothing better than seeing Mark Loram wind it all on at Bradford and Lynn yet his throttle control and skills were superb at Arena and Eastbourne. And could Martin Dugard have achieved more if he moved to a bigger home circuit? You need to master all types to reach the top

pointsmeanplayoffs
Looking forward to Tuesday now I’m able to make it. Like many other posters on here, I’m expecting an unchanged main body of the team which I’d be delighted with to be honest, especially now riders like Tai and Mikkel Bech are tied down elsewhere (or not!). INJ aside, I’m pretty sure we’d have pushed Poole all the way in the final last season and so looking at the announcements from other teams so far, I see no reason why the same can’t happen in 2015 with the same group. Good for team spirit too, keeping the same team together. I can also see Buster and Rob being a little more ruthless with team changes this season as they will be looking at riders form over more than 1 season. Kerr has signed for Newcastle in the PL, so hopefully Panthers can secure the services of Lambert as working in Pbo I would be able to pop over to the EOES to watch him a few times. Could be fun watching him rag around the boards on great track. As for the admission cost debate, Stars was £16 last season, can see it rising to £17 to be honest, so one less bag of mini eggs for me then : )
