dontforgetthefueltapsbruv
We never seem to get the second leg of anything, why is that?not sure if its by choice. It could be that the thought is to build a lead to defend and put pressure on the opposition. Could just be logistics of dates and race nights. Newcastle are gonna struggle to promote the 2nd leg of the semi - imagine that from the angle of the final on a cold wet end of October night and being 20+ points down from a first leg away. ruckerroo
Popped along last night for my first bit of p l racing for 3 yrs. Ipswitch dogged it in really, after 7 races they got in a great position and just got steamrollered after. The home side were rattled but smashed ippo to bits from half way with Kurtz and c wright being involved in most of the damage. Ipswitch tried hard esp Hawkins, risager was total crap mind , Worral awful when he didn't lead , heeps was a bit unlucky. Enjoyable match and big crowd
Super Blue
The group ended up exactly as the 3 teams had performed against each other in the original PL matches , 7pts , 6pts and 5pts . 6 home wins with the Rebels doing better than the Witches against Scunny . Exactly to form and my original prediction on another thread . Looking at the previous PL scores for the final it could well be very close . Well done to Somerset , the right two teams have definitely made the final .
TheSpecialOne
You're not going to start talking to yourself again, are you? But suffice to say, Somerset completely deserved to win the group. All the best Rob As I said previously, you do talk a lot of tosh and excel at stating the bleeding obvious once somebody has already pointed it out to you! All the best The Special One (who definately isn't or hasn't Had Enough)

Appear once in a blue moon to back up other posters and then disappear again... rather obvious don't you think? dontforgetthefueltapsbruv
But suffice to say, Somerset completely deserved to win the group. All the best Rob agree with that. The Rebels pulled off that best away performance that was highlighted by most as what would decide matters. All 3 teams can take credit for what was a hard fought group not least Scunny for the integrity they showed in their effort to beat the Witches when it meant next to nothing to them.
lucifer sam
agree with that. The Rebels pulled off that best away performance that was highlighted by most as what would decide matters. All 3 teams can take credit for what was a hard fought group not least Scunny for the integrity they showed in their effort to beat the Witches when it meant next to nothing to them. It was a hard-fought group, and I did wonder looking at updates around Heat 6 last night, whether there was one last little twist in the tale to come. Unlike some, I didn't see the group as a foregone conclusion, and there's absolutely no guarantee that the matches would finish the same as the league matches earlier in the season, some of which took place as long ago as April. Ippo proved this last night - they didn't go to Somerset thinking it was a hopeless case, they went to get the result and gave Somerset a match. As for Scunny vs Ipswich, you'd like to think every team would put in as much effort into each match, whether they are still in contention or not. It would be unfair on the other teams if not. Ipswich were probably kicking themselves on the result of this one, it was a great opportunity to get the draw or win they needed, but in the end, the likes of Auty and Howe pulled out some superb races towards the end of the meeting. From the 4 matches I saw, each of the three teams in this group can take credit on a closely fought group, with Somerset triumphing despite suffering from their own share of adversity. And the Edinburgh vs Somerset final is a fascinating one. In this case, the league matches weren't all that long ago, and I think they can be looked at. In which, it might be pretty close on aggregate in the PL final for a third successive season. The play-offs in the Premier League are a winner every time. Baldyman
Can i just ask anyone that went to this match, if rohan or morten went way out into the dirt? Looking at morten score especially, it's not great, he was also in a couple of 3 rider races. Maybe the inside was the place to be? Baldyman
Wow thanks for that, and it was as i thought it would be.
RHayes
I think the only time Ipswich went into the dirt, they got a heat advantage (2 5-1's in heats 5 and 6 along with a 4-2 in heat 14).
Baldyman
Well they wouldn't want to use the dirt to often and win more races would they, it's not the done thing.
Cliffeboy
Good meeting last night in front of a good sized crowd. Stand out moments for me were heat 4, Morris getting 2nd on the line from Worrell, ditto Morris getting 2nd on the line from Heeps in similar fashion. Hawkins needing eyes in the back of his head to stop a hard charging Allen from getting past in heat 6. Todd Kurtz coming out in heats 8,10,11 and 12 which resulted in four 5-1's which destroyed any notion the Witches may have had of an upset and finally Morris and Allen slipping through the tiniest of gaps in heat 13 for yet another 5-1. Two nasty looking accidents involving Pontus and Gino early on hope they are both ok soon. As usual always good to meet up with friends down at the OTA . EnglishRoundabout
Well they wouldn't want to use the dirt to often and win more races would they, it's not the done thing. Worrall, Tungate, Heeps and Hawkins all gave it their best, trying different lines. Mandates was desperate to resume riding but the track Doc made the decision to withdraw him from the meeting. A bang to the head and a damaged crash helmet (similar scenario to that of Pontus Aspgren)

Baldyman
Sounds like the Somerset riders just wanted to win more and had the killer instinct we so badly lack. Only riders that really want to win squeeze through the smallest gaps.

I wouldn't be too hard on the Ipswich team this 2014 Rebels team are all very very good around the OTA,even without Brady (fastest time this season) and Pontus. Edinburgh next up who were beaten by 22 against a full strength Rebels team, their worst defeat of the season I believe. It will be very hard I think without a full team against the table toppers. Joseq7
Many apologies folks for kinda hijacking this thread but....as Somerset fans are following this thread.......does anyone have any inside information conforming Somerset for the Best Pairs for the 2015 Cardiff weekend? Yes I know no official conformation until the AGM but come on someone's been given the wink?
