Aries
What's happened to some of the regular Ipswich contributors on this forum in recent times? I know Badge still hovers and posts every now and again but nowhere near enough as she used to, and there are plenty of others. LW, Ipswich Jules, Bailey's hat, MissingOut/Robyn, Boxer, Broomstick, tomcat, Presenter, even Lovey/Had Enough has disappeared again. A few only used to post sporadically but a few were regular posters but we haven't heard from any of them in yonks! Would be interesting to know whether it's a case of losing interest in the sport, losing patience with the forum nowadays or simply being far to busy these days to contribute. Most importantly, hope you're all still alive and well! Edited March 11, 2015 by Bloomy

CardinalSin
Just read the speedway star, and Phil Hilton says he's already met with Tungate, Heeps and Manzares and spoken on the phone to King and "skipper" Ritchie Hawkins. So looks like Hawkins retains the captaincy. No real surprise and a sound decision.
Baldyman
I'm not picking fault, but you would have thought he would have spoken to all the riders by now, making sure all their equipment is ready and stuff like that.
2ndbendbeerhut
Press and practice on monday and wednesday, with some gokarting inbetween!

Baldyman
No I'm not, I would just have thought that would have been something a team manager would do a week or so before the season gets going.
2ndbendbeerhut
Shame they don't do a team v supporters go kart race Think they did one year, also seem to remember that a few of the team were black flagged for over ambitious moves! Maybe you should suggest it, but proper karting, not the "Indoor Karting Dont need brakes kind"
Baldyman
Yeah proper outdoor stuff, on a proper track .

Agree wholeheartedly , if in just over a week's time he's theoretically gonna be telling the riders what they need to be doing imo he ought to know them all by now well enough to be in the position to do so . Having said that most of the team should know exactly what's expected of them anyway . Would normally by now be desperately looking forward to the start of the season but alas will be out of the country for the Billy Sanders memorial and the away trip to Rye . Hopefully with the wonders of modern technology I will be able to keep in touch with what's occurring . Enjoy everybody , i'll be back at Foxhall on the 26th . Emma T
No I'm not, I would just have thought that would have been something a team manager would do a week or so before the season gets going. Lets get real here people, the new TM is probably just another puppet with Chris Louis operating the strings. Its an unpaid job apparently and he will just be told what he can/can't do or say I think you will find. This should have been the time to bring in a Rosco/Middleditch/Adams type character who might have actually overseen the team to win something meaningful but that of course would have cost money.....................rant over.
2ndbendbeerhut
Without a few brown envelopes what can a team manager actually achieve in an individual focused team sport?
Baldyman
Well hopefully knowing what makes them tick and how to get the best out of them by understanding their personalities. Some riders like to be left alone, some like to be pumped up, and some like to sit in a strop in the corner.

Personally I think Phil is a strong enough character to put his own stamp on the job.
Baldyman
He may be able to put his own stamp on it, cos let's be honest, he you have enough spare time and a few quid in the bank for petrol, anyone can be a speedway team manager, and even more so at Ipswich.
